Hello fellow HoN'ers!
I am pleased to announce on behalf of the HoN admin team and Harvey Norman that in the very immediate future we will be holding a 1-vs-1 Middle Only winner takes all competition! Peter from Harvey Norman in Moonah Tasmania has proudly donated prizes for this even so a big thanks to him and all the team at Harvey Norman. This competition is a Middle only competition to make games excititing and more fun for both players and spectators but more on that later. The tournament will run over 1 week with the finals to be held on sunday, so it is up to everyone to get thier games played or risk forfeit. The competition will be run in a very simular fashion to the 1v1 Best Mid in Australia competition which I'm sure most of you remember.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must have a valid CG Account.
- Must NOT be match banned on CG at the time of the competition.
- Must have the account they intend to comepete on linked to thier cybergamer account.
PRIZES
Winner – 1 Free game of your choice
Second - (TBA)
Third - (TBA)
And don't panic guys you don't have to live in Tasmania to participate and/or win this competition. We are currently speaking with the sponsor to arrange what second and third prizes will be but rest assured I can guarentee that second and third will get something!
ENTRY FEE
It's FREE!!
Yes that's right folks all you need to do is turn up and be on the top of the leader board at the end of competition and you could be walking away with a free copy of Modern Warefare 3 or Battlefeild 3 or My Little Pony's latest game if that tickles your fancy (prizes not limited to this list).
WHEN'S IT HAPPENING?
We are aiming to start the competition one week after the conclusion of Cybergamer HoN Season 2.
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
- The tournament will be a double eliminition bracket (those who aren't familiar with this structure can find information at the bottom of this post) and will run over the corse of 1 week with the finals being held on Sunday.
- If you take a look at the bracket below, the idea is to have the first few rounds including the losers bracket of games finished by Friday (matches O and P according to the sample bracket will be the matches played over the weekend)
- As for seeding there will be none, seeds will be completly random.
- It is the players responsibility to have their games played. If you are having trouble contacting the person you are supposed to be playing then please inform an admin to have the issue resolved. In the event a player cannot be contacted they will be forfeited from the competition,
RULES
Please note: There are a few rules specific to this competition which are detailed below, however all other CG rules still apply in this competition.
Game Setup:
- Aus Server if you can find one, but this isn't nessesary. Players complaining that they don't want to play on anything but an Aus server will be disqualified.
- Forests of Caldavar
- All Pick
- One versus one (This option must be selected under "team size" to set starting gold to 603)
- Duplicate Heroes
- Runes Disabled
- No Stats
- 2 Referee Slots (for admins if need be)
- 10 Spectator Slots
Speicifics:
- You may not compete on two seperate accounts in the competition. Those found to be competing on two different accounts in the competition will be disqualified and recieve a three month match ban.
- Smurfs are also not allowed, just simply because it causes mass confusion amongst players and admins. I've made it no stats for a reason guys so please sign up with your main account or don't play.
- Complaining that you lag on any server but an Australian server is not an excuse. Both players must agree on a suitable server if an Australian Server cannot be found. In the case where you can't agree on a server both parties will be disqualified (I won't tolerate bullshit).
- Spectators are allowed if both players agree. There is no excuse for not letting a HoN admin into your game, players failing to allow an admin into thier game will be forfeited.
Structure:
The structure of each match will be a BO3 setup. Once players are in the game both players will roll (/roll 1 100) for first hero choice. The player that rolls the highest wins and must choose a hero. The player who loses the roll must also select the hero that the first player chose.
Example
Game 1:
Player A rolls 50, Player B rolls 100 (Player B Wins The Roll)
Player B Picks Arachna
Player A Picks Arachna
Game 2:
(Loser of the Roll) Player A's choice
Player A Picks Pebbles
Player B Picks Pebbles
Game 3 (if required):
(Winner of the Roll) Player B's choice
Player B Picks Fayde
Player A Picks Fayde
How do I win?
A game is over if one of the following criteria is satisfied:
- Teir 1 and 2 Mid Towers Destroyed
- 3 Hero Kills
- 20 minute time limit is reached
Games will last no longer than 20 mintues. In the case a game goes longer than 20 minutes the following points system will be used to determine a winner:
- Creep Kill = 1 point (Neutrals are not counted)
- Creep Deny = 1 point
- Hero Kill = 15 points
- Tower Kill = 10 points
General and Item Restrictions
- Neutral creeps are not counted in creep kills. If a player suspects thier opponent of killing neutral creeps they are to dispute the match immediatly and contact an admin to have the issue resolved.
- There is to be no purchase of + magic armor items.
These rules were added to keep the games fast paced and more hero kill oriented rather than every game being determined by creep/tower kills.
Hero Restrictions
If you pick a hero on this list you will be disqualified so please don't do it.- Nighthound - Too boring once both players reach 6
- Swiftblade - He basically counters himself. Stupid idea in a 1v1
- Wildsoul - Too farm oriented for a 20 minute game
- Chronos - Farm oriented
- Dark Lady - Farm oriented
- Scout - Farm oriented
- Sand Wraith - Farm oriented
- Tremble - Too boring. Players will just sit in mounds and/or exploit shudder
- Tempest - Jungle reliant
- Ophelia - Jungle reliant
- Vindicator - Would be silly in a mirror match. Has no chase and is gernally a boring hero anyway.
- Parasite - Jungle reliant
- Geomancer - Pay to play
- Keeper of the Forest - Jungle reliant
- Warbeast- Jungle reliant
- Legionnaire - Jungle reliant
- Jeraziah - Too tank, would have a hard time killing himself, terribly boring match up
- Accursed - Too tank, would have a hard time killing himself, terribly boring match up
- Midas - Pay to play
- Balphagore - Stupid hero
As soon as one of the above criteria is satisfied, the losing player must immediatly concede. Please show a bit of maturity and just throw up a concede vote if the 20 minute time limit is reached and it comes down to creep score. Obviously the winner in that situation will be decided by points, that player that concedes will not necessarily lose the match.
POSTING RESULTS
There will be a specific thread dedicated to the reporting of results and the winning player is required to enter the result in the forum using the following format:
Game: Player A vs Player B
Winner: Player A (2-1)
This is so I can update the bracket quickly and easily. I don't want to have to be chasing people up wondering who won what game.
SIGNUPS
If you could please reply to this thread or PM
Slubb with your
HoN Username and I will update the list as I get more sign ups. Much like the best Mid in Aus comp I will be aiming for 16-32 players and will be keeping registrations open until the first round of competition is completed. This is to allow for the inevitable sob story about someone not being able to make it due to whatever reason; So don't fret if you miss out, keep your eye out because I will be making announcements for players that missed out to join in to replace players that don't turn up.
