Hello CG'ians!

The CoD Admin Team + Richzy welcomes you participate or spectate the first State of Origin series in a long time. State of Origin has been done in the past; however for time-zone and player numbers reasons seemed to bugger up! Now we've a much larger community it should be able to be pulled off rather well (unlike Britt or Katie).

We've set out structures and formats for the competition below. Some of this is subject to change pending on the SS Invite Leagues finals and how soon they are completed (ACL is going to cause a little havoc for some games one would assume). The finals will have their dates and times announced at a later date because we don't know which teams will be competing in them and we need to work around time-zones.

Teams & Captains
The captains of each state will be selected by the CoD Admin team. These captains are responsible for choosing the other 7 members of their team (8 members in total, including the captain). These captains are free to choose any players they wish provided they stick to certain conditions. The main condition is that there is only allowed 2 players from the same team, per state team (at the time I post this; you can't leave your team and just say 'Nah not in with them any more pick me up!'). For instance, you can only have a maximum of 2 Mindfreak players per state team. You cannot - for instance - have four Malice members playing for NSW, the limit is 2. This also extends to organisations, for example Taunted. Further, we are keeping this to 'the state in which the player lives' not 'the state where the player was born', so it's not exactly 'origin'. As an obvious note, captains cannot choose players who are currently match banned.

The captains also have the role of choosing their playing line-up for each match. They have the freedom to choose whoever they like from the list they've made. They may choose to only play five of the players for the entire competition or they may choose to or need to play all 8 of them.

The players list (comprised of League players + some others, as composed by Rich) can be found here as an .rtf - SoO Players List. Please note; captains do not have to pick from this list - it's simple there to make it a bit easier. Captains can pick anyone; provided they stick to the aforementioned two-player rule.

If you're on that list but don't wish to compete, don't worry about letting us know. If the captain chooses you feel free to inform him you don't want to compete via PM. If you feel anyone in particular is missing from the list or want to be included (remembering this comp is the best of each state) feel free to let me (Twi) know. In particular we're looking for more All Stars to come forward! It's hard to find ya's!

Organisation
We've created a separated League for this event. The captains of each team will need to create their state's team in this League and join the waiting pool where a CoD Admin will move their team into the competition.

We're going to manually set up every challenge and move them to the allocated times as per the above schedule.

Rescheduling matches is possible if it suits both teams; however these can only be rescheduled to a day before the allocated day of the match; or a different time on the same day allocated for the match. Matches cannot be postponed until the next day or further.

Additional
As expected this will be played on the current League ruleset. Soon we'll announce the captains of each state; once these captains choose their team members the team line-up is final. Any abuse in any shape or form towards captains (whether you're a team mate, player that didn't get picked, or just a random bystander) will be dealt with extremely harshly.

For captains and players
Be aware; while this is a fun comp - it is still serious! There'll still be bans handed out for the usual bullshit; this is extended to such odd things as being online and playing some other game and not playing your SoO one when your team mates need you; among various other shit circumstances and instances of douche-baggery that can happen.

Also, you can get to the League/State of Origin page here: Bops State of Origin. Captains need to click 'Create Team' and you'll be whacked into the Waiting Pool, then an Admin will slap you into the comp. From then on; you have a few weeks to sort out your roster.


Feel free to make any suggestions or comments. Mayhap there's a way we can make this better? Let it be heard; there's a while until this comp gets underway. The obvious thing to look at is the schedule; is this better than trying to do 2-3 games a night over a couple of nights or?
