assuming you are making your own videos. Either using Fraps, demo recording or digital camera. Fraps and demo recording will produce a raw avi video file. There is no compression, hence why they are very large.
If you are going to edit your video in Sony Vegas, After Effects etc. then at the end of this process you will create a large (most likely) avi file as well. These will not be compressed.
In order to put these on YT you should compress the video. The best method is to use
H264. Then save the file as either flv or mp4.
An easy way to do this is to use
