www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/11/how-blizzards-guardian-cub-pet-could-change-world-of-warcrafts-economy-forever/

Quote from Someone:
There's more to the $10 Guardian Cub pet than first meets the eye. Whereas most WoW pets are classed as BoA items (Bind on Account), the Guardian Cub pet is classed as a BoE (Bind on Equip) item. That means you can buy a set of Guardian Cubs even if you have no intention on activating them for personal use in-game.

After purchasing the furry little bugger, there'll be a brief cooldown period before you can sell them on, but you'll eventually be able to trade them with whoever you like for in-game currency. You're free to pack your inventory with the little critters too, though they will take up one inventory slot each (fatties). You'll need a separate cub for each character on your account too, unlike old-school pets – who are tied to accounts, not individual characters.

This is a legitimate way to buy gold in game. As this pet is BoE. Obviously didn't read the article.

im sure this is to test the waters.

because 1 pet isnt going to make a HUGE difference imo.

hopefully they'll add more items to come!

I guess 1 pet flooding the market wont sell for much... Multiples will...

yeah this is probably a test.

This was already in game AAAGES ago though. The TGC give BoE mounts

And since that hasn't gotten rid of gold farmers. . .

Obviously didn't know that.

TCG doesn't give a hundred percent chance of getting a WoW game item in each pack...

That's why it wasn't effective.

But what it did give was worth a decent amount of gold

This pet is going to be worth nothing, and it definitely wont solve the gold selling market problem

Its the target market they are after, you may be an avid WoW fan, but you don't want to play with cards. quite simply they are offering a different means of trading IRL money for gold in-game.

another option is to just sell the gold. but depending on the prices, they would inflate the market so heavily that newer players or people who hate farming will get annoyed and may quit.

I reckon Blizzard should sell gold to players themselves. But have a monthly/weekly cap to the gold they can buy.

it can be exploited still.

and also if this was to be implemented, there will be a surge of keyloggers floating around imo.

Lol you guys are over-analysing it. On a decent server with thousands of players, the amount of people who have a spare ten $ is going to be high.

Its not going to be worth anything much, and if it does, more ppl will just buy one and make it worthless.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Not to mention it takes like nothing to gold now. I can make 50k/week barely playing and patches give you hundreds of thousands if you play it right.
