ok so basically i was trying to use the new fb webcam skype thing, when i opened it i could see my gf but my webcam wasnt there or anything (i have an integrated one but i havnt used it in maybe 2 years since msn chat days and yeah i dont know whats happened). anyways i tested it and it says that it cannot connect to the device and to close any application that may be using this device. so pretty much spent the last few hours doing everything possible to fix it (device manager updating software/looking for new hardware) disabling and re enabling it. just wondering if anyone has any quick tips on how to fix this because it is REALLY giving me the shits...

thanks boyce

Is it browser based, like you use it inside a browser or is it an actual program on the pc?

I had that problem before where it said the device (cam) is currently in use or being used etc..

Try disabling the cam device.. uninstall msn, then restart the pc.. then enable the cam then restart the pc again.. should do the trick

If you haven't done so already I would try downloading any new drivers available for it.

I had a similar problem back when I used to have a laptop and getting the new drivers fixed it because I had done a fresh install of windows and lost all my drivers.
