Hello all and welcome to the CGi Grand Final Report! It has been a long season and we are indefinitely drawing towards Modern Warfare 3. But for that to commence we have to have the two top teams for CGi Season 2 compete head to head in order for one to seal the cash prize of $5,600 in their hands.
For the last time in Black Ops we'd like to take this opportunity to thank the community, CG staff and of course SteelSeries for their great contributions. Thank you to everybody who competed in the league and helped keep it on track and running smoothly. So good luck to both of these teams and it will surely be an epic match!

Maps

Map Details
Villa is, as its name suggests, a large house setting. It is situated atop a cliff, and the edges of the map have similar qualities to Cliffside. Elements of Courtyard also emerge in the center of the map, as it features a large open space with rock cover. The villa itself overlooks the courtyard, and certain objectives. Because of this, many players find success in picking off enemies who run into the open in this area, as they are easier to target than those who flank the sides and who use cover. WIth no clear advantage on this map, teams and rush hard and plant quickly with smoke cover. Might be one of the only maps you might see a sniper in either top villa or up stairs of the house at attack spawn.

Map Details
While this map can be predominantly mid-to-long range shoot-outs, it does also have the potential for many great rush strategies. Smoke grenades can also play a large part in this map, enabling teams to get to sneaky places behind enemy lines. Not to mention, there are a decent amount of great grenades and angles to be worked. One said negative about this map is the abundance of 'headshot' spots - meaning areas/barriers/rocks etc where you can only see the tip of the enemies head but they can see you near entirely.

Map Details
Summit is based in the Ural Mountains. This map also seems to bear resemblance to the map "Sub Base" in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Summit is a narrow map with severe drops on all sides. Summit features plenty of variety when it comes to buildings and platforms. The interior of one large building in the middle is the most open area on the Summit map, with most of it made up of narrow gaps and pathways. It is a map with lots of small spaces for the player to hide in.

Map Details
Grid is made up of a series of small buildings, hangars, and generators across a snowy landscape, with a power/comms grid at one end. This map is supposed to resemble a communications antenna, similar to the Duga-3 array near Chernobyl (codenamed Russian woodpecker). On the East side of the map, a large area with lots of snowy foliage are ideal spots for snipers, but will hardly be used unless the defending teams fully attacks spawn. Most of the fighting on this map tends to gravitate towards the truck in the center of the map and the two buildings on either side. Teams will be faced with a mix of rushes and slow assault pushes so adapting and effective rotation will be a must. Teamwork will be tested and preparation will be a must. if the trend from the past rounds continues, teams will have to be on their toes and expect the unexpected if they are any chance of taking victory in their respective matches.

Map Details
Havana, is a fairly small, close quarters map featuring a long road in the middle with ample amounts of cover and buildings. There is the chance of getting spawn naded from both ends so players will have to keep this in mind. With no flashes in CGi, smoke will be used all over this map to rush, to plant, to fake and to defuse. The depth of the teams will be tested with the team who can come up with the best mix of subbies, Assaults and possibly a sniper will come out Victorious. We can expect a lot of hard rushes towards the B bomb site and a lot of people flanking to cause a nuisance to both attacking and defending teams.
Team Histories
Basically what is below is a history on both teams who are in this grand final. I have asked two people from each of the teams to provide this to give a greater insight to those who read the report and help them develop knowledge on the top tiered teams and how they've come this far.
Vox Eminor's History
Well as most of the community would know, we started off under the UNIT, was pretty much a dominant TDM team, but that led us nowhere. We made the switch to SnD, taking out the final season of WaW. Pretty much broke up start of mw2, different members joining different teams. Then the FFYI comp got announced and we made a team again. We made CGi, everyone voted us as black horses for CGi. We took out 3rd which was a pretty big accomplishment for us. Coming into black ops we wanted to go bigger and better. Took out inters finals after having a crappy season. Moorey and hacker left the team (lol) which made us recruit metal freak, probably the best thing we did. Started off beating 2N then MF. Fell off our horses and started losing easy games. Finished 2nd and played Malice first off. Comfortably beating them 2-0 then beating Taunted 2-0 gave us the Grand final birth. We defeated MF 3-1 in the grandfinal. Season 2 was awesome for us, Cruised through the season and finals.
Taunted: Five Down's History
5D started with Boston, Millzy and Jacko at the start of Blackops. Never really playing any competetive before just being pub stars back on WaW we recruited Willyum xo and Spaydz and started playing search hard out.. We just seemed to click straight away dominating teams throughout the cgo season and climbed into the top 24 by finals.. I think the CGo finals was where everyone could tell that we had something special going on. We versed Syndicate a very good team led by Zhobe and Reniks and after being 2 maps down we came back to take the last 3 and win the match with all the boys showing alot of determination..
We were then announced in the CGm league S1 blackops and with alot of CG not agreeing with us being put in that league we knew we deserved to be there. I think that was about the time we received a pm from Falcs about joining the taunted org and that is the best decision we made as a team joining up with all the taunted boys! Cruising through CGm we picked up win after win until we met Legacy (our nemesis on grid).. Special mention to Nomad for getting a 1v3 every time we versed them haha. The only map we dropped the whole of CGm if im correct? We went on to win CGm and prove alot of CG wrong
Come CGi we knew we were gonna have to step up our game even more knowing that we would be versing much harder opposition.. So we picked up Mitcho, Stunzy, Drastic and Packer and started our season off with some big wins by big margins.. The whole of CGi we had a pretty unstable roster with different people playing different maps and this was pretty evident with our losses to Malice and Mindfreak both by 2 rounds or less.. Come finals we had our core 5 sorted out and has seemed to work alot better for us beating a very good team in Malice and the Powerhouse team of MF to make it to the CGi Grand Final..
Just a big thanks to Falcon and everyone else in the Taunted organisation as well as Samsung... Taunted = best org on CG
Player Overviews
The basic idea here is to give an overview of each player in both of these teams. It will give you guys an insight on the types of players they are and what kinds of guns they prefer to use.
Vox Eminor's Players' Descriptions
Name: Corey "Unleash" Nicol
Age: 20
How long has he been boxing? Since 07
CGi Performance:
Corey has been pretty consistent throughout the entire CGi season hes the slayer/support player.
How he ended up in VoxE?
Basically i was in Truly Phenomenal at the time, plan was to join UNIT for Black Ops because Tp3 wasn't sticking around, then we ended up stay and i didn't join unit. But then we ended up splitting anyway and i joined 1SK for black ops season 1 CGo and finished 3rd or 4th, anyway, then i decided to try my chances with unit and they let me be a part of the team, since then ive been managing the team with mauseum and macka.
Name: James "macka" Mckenzie
Age: 17
How long has he been boxing? Start of 09
How he ended up in VoxE? Was in the original team first started with Mauseum.
CGi Performance: Macka's performance has been a lift from season 1. His consistent clutches and ability to pull ridiculous shots out of his arse has been beneficial for the team.
Role he plays in the team: Macka is an all-rounder. He is rushing with scriblz, watching flank with his M16 or just being a complete and utter spastic.
Name: Orlando "Scriblz" Rodriguez
Age: 18
How long he has been boxing? Since mid cod4
How he ended up in VoxE? UNIT discovered he was a BAWS
CGi Performance:
He has played really well throughout the CGi season and just continues to dominate.
Role he plays in the team:
Scriblz is the main rusher of the team and hes also the strategist of the team and the in game captain.
His unique defending and rushing ability's has helped the team out throughout the season and hes been on of the team's most constant performing players throughout the season.
Name:Taylor "Mauseum" Mills
Age: 19
How long he has been boxing?
I have boxing competitively now for 3 years I first began as a pubstar in world and war where i believed ratio was everything and i competed against my brother for the highest ratio! (then i realised it was for fags)
CGi Performance:
Pretty shit, basically bottom scored every game just because i disliked the game and played halo wars and starcraft x2 the amount I played cod, cheers mack for the carry.
Role in the team:
Basically my role in the team is assist in potentially helping calling the next play when things are going horrible, making sure our comms are crisp and keeping players from raging and performing bad on the big stage. I generally get 1-2 kills a half as well, i guess they count
Name: Chris Manion
Age: 18
How long has he been boxing? Ive been playing xbox for about 4 years now.
How did i end up in VoxE:
During Black Ops i was playing with a team called second nature for a season, but i was still looking for a more serious team, I saw that THE UNIT was looking for members so i quickly pounced on that.
I got accepted to be a sub but ended up becoming core.
CGi performance: Metal hs been the most consistent player this season. Usually always being up the top of the leader board and being a vital part to the team with excellent coms.
My role in the team:
My role in the team is just as important as anyone else in the team, I consider myself very flexible, i can rush with an SMG or push with a rifle, i believe my best skill is my communication to the team.
Taunted: Five Down's Players' Descriptions
Spaydz - Mr Consistant.. You can always bet with Spaydz he is gonna deliver. The 14 year old Italian kid has in my opinion one of the best ak shots in CGi and if you wanna contest him you better be prepared to be outshot. Playing a slaying type role on most maps he controls choke spots very well and we have come to watch him turn into a clutch king. When he is on top of his game he is a very hard opponent to get on top of...
Boston - aka Rylezy Rylez as i like to call him, he is a player who will hold and not contest at the right moments, which is pretty hard to do. If you want someone to hold any kind of spot on any kind of map you give it to Boston. As they say you don't send a boy to do a mans job. There is virtually nowhere he can't hold down, whether it be with his reasonably weird m16 shot or his solid ak.
He is a captain of the team and holds everything in place, if we didn't have him the team would probably end in less than 2 weeks. In a team of ragers he is definitely one of the cooler heads and doesn't really get angry to easily like some of us(Millyum). Anyway Boston may have his ups and downs but if he is at his best or even pretty close to it, he will be very hard to get past.
Willyum xo - The X-factor.. The 10 sense asian as we have come to know him has arguably the best Mp5k shot on CG.. At times he seems impossible to hit and when he does get hit he just seems to gobble the bullets.. If Will gets off to a flyer you know he and 5D are in for a very goodnight. 20 bombs are not uncommon for Willyum and hopefully he can grab a few for us in the GF...
Mitch - The Rookie.. I have enjoyed watching this guy grow in CGi this season.. Making the jump straight from CGa to a core spot in a top quality CGi team is not easy but he has been very eager to learn and has done an amazing job for 5D throughout this whole season! Mitch has the ability to use any gun effectively and can quickly change the course of a game with his deadeye shot. Dont go to sleep on him or he will bite you in the arse...
Millyum - The rock.. I personally think he is the biggest game changer of 5D.. The best communicator I have played with he gives the whole team confidence when he is calling rotations and bomb plants etc.. Again another player that enjoys changing his game up possesing a very very good Mp5k and M16 shot.. A very smart player hopefully he can grab us a few rounds in th GF...
Their Thoughts on how this Season Went
This is the section in particular where both teams discuss how their season went and whether they could have improved in one of their matches or done something differently.
VoxE Macka and their Overall Thoughts on the Season
We couldn't ask for a better season, there were a few close games that we could of lost but we pulled through, and managed to go through undefeated.
Boston 5D and their Overall Thoughts on the Season
I dont think we could have had much of a better season. I mean we have come from being told we are a bunch of rands and won't win a game in CGm to making it all the way to the CGi grandfinal. I couldnt ask for anything else from the boys they have put in the effort and deserve to be versing Vox in the final.
Come MW3, what will you be aiming for?
This is just an added section to give the community a basic overview of not only what these teams will be hoping to achieve come MW3 and 2012, but what most others will be as well. Whether it be competing in the MLG circuit, attending more of the Australian LANs or just dominating the CG ladders. I asked the question whether or not these teams would be competing come MW3, which may be obvious to some but not to others.
Vox Eminor's Aims for 2012
Yes we will be continuing into mw3, now with a bigger and better sponsor. We will be focusing on 4's alot more, seeing as it will most likely be the future for xbox, but we will also being putting just as much effort into search. We will be hopefully attending all ACL events under the Vox Eminor name with the Halo team. Just like every team they all wish to go overseas and play, but just like every other team we can't afford it.
Taunted: Five Down's Aims for 2012
Hell yeah we will be back! With a couple of new recruits in big Neen and Bill we will be looking to compete at the highest level on CG once again! We would like to represent Five Down at lans as much as possible and if an opportunity came up to compete oversees i dont see why we would consider it. The boys are just keen to get off BO and get onto something new and are all looking forward to another fun filled CGo season on MW3
Predictions
So here we are the Grand Final for Black Ops CGi Season 2! Thank goodness it's finally over some might say (like me
) and others may miss the game which has wrenched some Aussie gamers hearts out and stomped on them (Fluenza). None the less we can all say goodbye to this game at last and hopefully burn the memories we have of it. But we aren't here to talk about how bad Black Ops is, we're here to discuss this upcoming game with Vox and Five Down which in my opinion was much unexpected. I didn't expect Mindfreak to go down that easily but Five Down have definitely proven to me that they are a great team and deserve to be in this Grand Final! Whether or not they can compare to the greats that we have come to know as Vox (formerly Archaic Esports) we will have to see because as many have seen and believe, they are untouchable. This final will consist of 5 maps, each map testing both teams' skills to adjust to opposing strats or using the exposed parts of their strats to their advantage. The 5 maps that will be played are Villa, Cracked, Summit, Grid and Havana. Both of these teams have their strengths and weaknesses on these maps but it is up to them to discover them and then proceed to hitting them hard! So basically what is written below will contain the predictions for each of these maps from me.
Villa Prediction
Here we go, villa is the first map for this monstrous grand final and this map could go into overtime! I know for a fact that Five Down are a great team on this map but so are Vox so it will definitely be a close map. Vox have some very advanced and different strats in comparison to a lot of other teams and with them they are always able to catch their opponents off guard. There is no key bombsite on this map as each are able to be attacked consistently with the right strats and therefore both teams shouldn't be basing their pushes off of the one bombsite. I believe this one of Five Down's strongest maps and they have great strats which complement each of their members individually which also helps them lead into better teamwork. The thing about Five Down though is if they are losing they need to keep their cool and have someone telling them that they can still do this and that they still have a chance as team morale can be key in winning or losing a match. I believe that the rages were kept at a low during their Mindfreak match as well which is good to see as every player is able to perform at their best when everyone is happy and not raging at each other, even due to a silly mistake. So really it depends on what happens on the night of this match that could determine which way each map goes. If Five Down are all working together as a team and have their team morale up to its highest then they could very well take out the game and Villa but knowing Vox they always play better on the night of their games and from what I had seen, never raged at each other and rather kept playing the game and attempting to pull the win no matter what. So what I'm predicting Vox to take out this map because they know how to play it and although their strats may be on par with that of Five Down's they have team chemistry going through the roof in every match.
For Villa we should definitely see some great plays from Maus if he is on his game like he was against Mindfreak. Otherwise both Scriblz and Macka will be the main defenders and attackers and pick off the kills for the others to finish off the round with a plant. Metal of course will be his consistent self as he has been every game and hopefully we see Unleash find the form we know he has. Five Down as per usual will have Spaydz who will be someone Vox will have to look out for as well as Willyums rushes. Boston played extremely well against Mindfreak in their last game so if he plays hopefully he can repeat his ownage. Both Millyum and Mitcho also played well and could be trouble for Vox too.
Prediction for Villa is in Vox's favor - 16-13
Cracked Prediction
Cracked is the second map for the grand final and this in my opinion will again, going in the favour of Vox. The reason I say this as from what I had seen from Five Down on this map wasn't as impressive as what I've seen from Vox. They have the right mindset for this map in the way that they position their players and the way that they utilise them all to the best of their ability. Vox's teamwork is way too good to go against and their individual skill in the way that each of them clutch is beyond any team I have seen throughout Black Ops. Although this is just from my point of view so Five Down could have definitely changed the way that they play this map in order to counter Vox which would be a smart move by them. Overall though Vox are just too dominant on this map to go past them but if Five Down does have a way to counter the way Vox play this map then they will be in for a chance to take it out.
Mauseum to pull off some great shots on this map with Vox holding down a solid B defense and Scriblz dominating over on his side of the map with Metal backing him up. Spaydz to be troublesome as usual with Mitcho and Millyum pulling off some great kills.
Prediction for Cracked is in Vox's favor - 16-10
Summit Prediction
This map I can see Five Down taking out. It is a pretty hard map to play in my opinion and is one of my most hated out of every COD. I know from experience that Vox don't like it that much either but it won't stop them from attempting to take out this map as well. Even with their confidence though Five Down are pretty darn good at this map and I can see them pulling out some really nice pushes and taking down Vox due to them. They have the rushing capability for this kind of map and all they would need to do is put down a solid defense and let their attack do the talking. Knowing Vox though they would have been working hard to get good at this map much like they did on Grid which is now, in my opinion, one of their best. If they have fixed whatever problems they had with Summit before they will probably take out this map. But in my opinion Five Down will take out this map.
I can see Unleash doing well on this map as I believe it is one of his favourites a long with Metal and Scriblz. Five Down with their dominating rushers though will have Willyum and Mitcho taking the front lines and picking up the important kills to enable the rest of the team to push forward.
Prediction for Summit is in Five Down's favor - 14-10
Grid Prediction
Okay this map I definitely see Vox taking out. It is now one of their best after working on it as a team and adjusting the things they needed to so that it was in suit of the teams preferences. They now have an extremely strong defensive side spreading their players evenly in areas that may need more attention than others. From my experience with Five Down and this map they don't believe they are great at it and had said the last time they played this they had changed their stuff around and improved it a hell of a lot than from what they used to score on it against teams. Although in saying this a m ajority of their team still hate the map, namely Spaydz and Willyum from what I know and they are two key players for their team. So having two of their key players disliking the map doesn't really help them. In the end even with the adjustments made from Five Down on this map I just don't believe they will be able to take out Vox who have worked hard on this map to make it one of their best.
Unleash to have a solid defense with Maus backing him up a long with Metal dominating the middle area and making solid callouts for this team mates. Macka to also dominate around his side of the map and hold it down like a baws. Their attack will be solid and a team effort will be the outcome, each of them grabbing rounds or key kills to help grab the round. With 5 rounds on their attack they will definitely come out with the win. Willyum, although he apparently hates this map should do well with his MP5 and with the backup from the AK's may be able to secure Five Down some extra rounds on the scoreboard.
Prediction for Grid is in Vox's favor - 16-9
Havana PredictionAlthough I have predicted that Vox will take out the game 3-1 I will make a prediction for Havana as it could very well go in the opposite direction and end up 2-2. Now for this map both teams are very good and experienced as it can be very rush oriented and both teams have the rushers in their team. Both the A and B bomb are hittable on this map so it's basically the preference of the team which decides the bomb they'll be hitting. With very different strats it will be reliant on the defense at the particular bomb site they hit and if these particular people are on their game then they could turn the tide of the game and potentially turn the game into their favour. With about 6-8 rounds on defense and a very convincing attack either team could score the win for this map but I do believe Vox will take it out. They won't be raging at all throughout the entire game and will be focusing on taking out the game rather than petty mistakes that could have been avoided on other maps. Their chemistry is unbelievable and will keep trekking no matter the circumstances they're in. No, I am not saying that Five Down will lose because their team is full of ragers but it could become a factor that could result in them losing a map. My advice to them, especially for a game as important as this is to keep cool, stay focused on the game and NOT other things and most importantly, respect your team mates. So if this does happen then Five Down could potentially take out this match leaving the undefeated, untouchable but very deserving team of Vox only taking home the 2nd place prize. But for this map, I'm thinking that Vox will take it out due to it being one of their strongest as shown throughout both seasons.
For Havana Macka as usual will pull big kills, possibly some more big clutches and big scores. Mauseum, IF he's on his game will also dominate on the battlefield with his supreme AK skill. However it could be in favour of Unleash if they decide to hit the opposite bombsite as I know he can hold his own in that kind of situation. For attack, the obvious players that will stand out for Havana would be Macka and Scriblz who are great rushers and from what I see, always get the kills needed to take out rounds. For Five Down We should see Spaydz taking the reins and dominating for his team as he has one of the best AK shots on Black Ops, along with the backup of Boston/Millyum. On attack though I can see Mitcho getting some nice rush kills, possibly using Willyum as bait to achieve them however
Prediction for Havana is in Vox's favor - 14-12
So that is the end of my predictions for this match, for the total score of 3-1 in favor of Vox Eminor. However I do believe that if Five Down have the right mindset and atttitude coming into this match they could very well secure themselves the title of the winners of S2 Black Ops CGi. If not though, they won't be completely obliterated by the S1 champs and currently undefeated Vox but will lose quite convincingly.
So this is the end for Black Ops, maybe not forever, but hopefully

Shall we all celebrate together and snap our discs in half? Probably not because we can all get a decent amount of cash for the game but perhaps we can all think it!
Just quick thank to the guys from both Five Down and Vox Eminor as without their help the parts about their teams then parts of this report could not have been accomplished! (Big thanks to Macka, Unleash, Boston and Spaydz though

)
So this will most likely be a ripper of a game and if Bio shoutcasts it I suggest that everyone tunes in cause it could quite possibly go round for round!
