Sorry about posting in wrong section. thanks for the advice! Different ports didnt work, and i havent tried it on another computer yet to see if it is the device itself. If it is the device, is there anyway that i could get the data on there, off? like, would i be wasting my time if i took it to a computer repair joint

OP, the magnets will wipe your data. Don't do it.

Is the hard drive USB powered or AC powered? When you plug it in, can you hear the drive spin up/see any LEDs on the drive light up?

The Hard drive is usb powered and when i plug it into the computer, nothing happens, like always but when its on, the lights come on and the Drive spins up
