Well that was for recreational purposes but whilst we are talking about it I may as well admit my skill for it. I am baw5.

And adding to basically what everyone said, the benefits of regionals outweigh the negative that Buzzin has stated by FAR. I see regular LANs as a huge step for Australian Competitive, and if we're only going to have 4 a year, then that would be something frowned upon.

I don't think it will effect attendance of major lans. People will still save to go the big ones, few will spend cash to get to regionals that aren;t close to them. As ACL said they're more of a focus on social/casual gaming to draw in more people like that who then might be keen to attend a bigger event.

i know i wont be spending money to attend regionals outside of sydney so im assuming many people will do the same which then crosses out the problem of attending so many lans they go broke and can't afford to attend any national events. the nationals will be the largest seen so far imo

I think the idea is to advertise MOAR to the locals and get the idea that you dont have to be a g33k to come to a LAN.
