Welcome to CyberGamer FIFA 10!
With FIFA 10 now on store shelves, it is appropriate that we let you know how the first season of FIFA 10 CGi and CGo will work. Overall, this will be the second season of FIFA CGi, and amazingly the third season of FIFA CGo, which in such a short amount of time, is quite an effort.
This is how it is going to happen:
By the evening of 1/10/09 at the latest, the FIFA 10 CGo ladder will be up and ready for people to start joining, challenging and completing matches. This will be known as the qualifying stage and will last approximately 3 weeks. The ruleset for these matches is identical to that of FIFA 10 CGo matches (explained below).
On Sunday 24/10/09, the ladder will be locked. After any outstanding challenges have been completed, the top 22 players, excluding those who finished in the final 8 of FIFA CGi season 1, and the two finalists of FIFA CGo Season 2 will qualify for the first season of FIFA 10 CGi. This means that the lowest possible qualifying rank is 32nd on the ladder, however the cut off may well be anywhere between 22nd and 32nd.
The three weeks will allow people to adjust to the difference between FIFA 10 and FIFA 09, but more importantly to give them a chance to evaluate their interest in playing the game competitively. For CGi to work well, players must be committed to all matches. I suggest that if you intend to play this game competitively that you use these 3 weeks to get as much match practice in as possible as the competition is fierce and we are expecting more players than ever.
FIFA 10 CGo:
FIFA CGo is CyberGamer's FIFA tournament catered towards casual players, and players new to CG's structure. It is the perfect proving ground and many of CG's top FIFA players have come through the CGo ranks. After the qualifying stage detailed above, the FIFA 10 CGo ladder will continue to operate under the same structure and ruleset as the last season of FIFA CGo. All matches must be played using FIFA 10's Ranked Match feature, doing so will mean that the rules do not need to be changed manually, and should help stop the use of custom squads (anybody caught using a custom squad will be banned indefinitely). Whether or not there will be a prize for the CGo winner is yet to be determined, however, the top 2 players will automatically qualify for FIFA CGi Season 3.
Rules:
A single ranked match.
5 Minutes, Extra-Time, and Penalty Shoot-out if necessary.
Adidas Live Season Disabled (see extended rules for more info).
Any team may be used.
Custom formations/tactics are acceptable.
Finals:
The structure of CGo finals is a 16 player straight elimination tournament. All Finals matches are to be conducted under the same rules as the normal ladder matches, except for the Grand Final, which is best of 3 games.
FIFA 10 CGi:
FIFA CGi is CyberGamer's premier FIFA tournament catered towards the most dedicated and skilled players in Australia and New Zealand. The structure for FIFA CGi will be a large group stage/knock-out tournament. Currently, there will be a maximum of 32 competitors but only 22 spots will be up for grabs. There will be 8 groups of 4 players each which is double the amount of players we allowed qualification for the first season of FIFA CGi. Each player will play all other group members twice, meaning 6 matches in total. The top two players from each group will then qualify for the Knock-Out stage of the tournament. The Knock-Out stage structure sees matches being best of three, and straight elimination. This means, if you lose a match, you are out. Once you have been eliminated from FIFA CGi you are free to return to play the rest of the season in the CGo bracket but must start from the bottom ranking. The top 16 automatically qualify for FIFA CGi Season 3. The top 2 players will receive a prize.
Group Stage Rules:
A single ranked match.
5 Minutes, Extra-Time, and Penalty Shoot-out if necessary.
Adidas Live Season Disabled (see extended rules for more info).
Any team may be used.
Custom formations/tactics are acceptable.
Knock-Out Stage Rules:
The Knock-Out stage rules are identical to the group stage rules, however, all matches are best of 3 games except the Grand Final which is best of 5 games.
For more in-depth descriptions of all rules, including those that cover cheating, disconnections, player behaviour, etc, please read the Rules section of the ladder that you compete on.
