New Build Need help deciding on parts.
Budget $3000

About the only thing i am certain i want is a Radeon HD6990 4GB or 2 lower cards running in Crossfire (which ever one is better but still about the same price for the cards. Ie 2 x $300 cards would be fine if it means it will be bettter) and the system to be water cooled. im just not sure on every other part needed.

The computer will also need to be able to run Eyefinity as that is what i am currently running

Could some one make me a list on PCCG

If you are currently running Eyefinity, why the **** would you NEED to upgrade, especially at 3k cost.

Stop being an idiot. Even doing so on purpose, it still makes you an idiot.

Alienware is overrated and overpriced. Plus we all know that a custom list is way better then buying something pre-made. Reason being is the following: a custom setup is tailored to what YOU WANT and what YOU NEED. Buying premade means you let dell do the deciding for you (even though, you can configure on the website and have the computer shipped out.)

I'd say what grumpy has mentioned is a good setup. But make sure what you get is futureproof for future game releases.

Either way, a 3k setup is gonna be better then 1/4, to 1/2 of the people on here have.

GOOD LUCK

If your deadset on a W/C system go for it, my own rig (w/c) on the latest games i.e BF3 - sits around like 38-45 degrees in game. and in mw3 it sits at like 33ish.(but mw3 is a bad example.) thats a i72600k + 580 with a built in waterblock (EVGA). and with an SSD, you cant go wrong .

yeah i haven't worked out the water cooling yet, im just sick of having a really loud PC to keep it cool. ATM i have to put my fans on 80% to keep the GFX card around 50 degrees. to start with i had the fans on like 30 but then realized it was cooking the Card lol 105 degrees.

So water cooling will be lots quieter for me and actually cool the PC better. (thats what im hoping any ways)

Only problem with Grumpy's list is there isnt W/C included which bumps the price up alot

Speak to Karma dude, especially since he's in SA as well.

You don't really need to go with a x79 build (what Grumpy's suggesting) unless you're set on getting a 6 core CPU and do a lot of rendering, etc.

With 3k I'd imagine he'd be able to spec up a particularly good machine for you, with water-cooling and all. It's what he does.

That or you try and do it yourself, but there's always a risk of realising you've made mistakes the first time round and realise you'll need to spend more money to get what you want.

If you're gonna do it once, do it right the first time round.

Rather than water cooling, spend the money from that on peripherals and a sound card.

Could you list the full specs of your current machine? I'd be interested to know what cooler your graphics card is using for it to be able to cool the GPU by ~55C just by increasing the fan speed.
