Mindfreak's Quake Live player Peter "Ventz" Kidson is headed to Sweden to compete at DreamHack Winter 2011. He has received his invitation for the Duel tournament and flights have been confirmed to compete at the world class event.

Peter will be one of 16 Quake Live players competing in the Duel competition worth 55,000 SEK. After a great trip to QuakeCon earlier in the year, he will again face up against the best players in the world including Quake Live legends such as Rapha, Cooller and Strenx.

On 2011 form Peter is ranked as one of the best players in the Asian Pacific region and will look to represent Australia and this region well.

He will fly out on Friday to get some practice time in Sweden before the event and will be housed with Swedish Mindfreak manager Joachim Hofvenschiöld. Look out for Ventz as he could also compete in the European Zotac Cup this Sunday.

Ventz will also be competing in the TDM competition for AP (ausportugal) alongside fellow Australian fraze and Portuguese players Insan3 and Syz.

Stay tuned to www.mindfreak-esports.com or www.facebook.com/mindfreakesports for updates on his progress.

We also took time out to have a chat with Ventz before he departs:

Ventz, how does it feel heading overseas again to compete?

Has all been a bit rushed booking today to fly out 2 days later but I'm pretty excited to be going to another lan event, had a great time @ QuakeCon! I'm going to arrive on the 19th so hopefully I can get some practice in and play in a Zotac on sunday if everything goes to plan.

What's your mindset coming into the tournament?

Feeling quite good, looking forward to playing some more competitive qlive in both TDM and duel.

I've played the new maps a bit more than I had coming into QuakeCon so I feel better about my game.

In the US you showed great promise but lacked experience, do you think that experience will help you coming into DreamHack?

I think being able to vs players a lot higher than my level has helped point out what I need to work on. I've had a lot of demos to watch over so hopefully I've learnt from some mistakes and can have a better showing this time.

You played against Cooller last time, who would you like to come up against this time?

Would like a chance to play Rapha as I didn't play him in America but it might be better if I'm not in his group!

I'd like to play as many of the 15 other competitors as possible while I'm there.

Any of the dark horses in the tournament that you have been keeping an eye on?

I've been jumping into EU servers when I get the chance if I see any of the big names playing.

Looking forward to seeing more of K1llsen and toxic, not too familiar with a few names in the list so hopefully it will be a nice varied tournament. Interested to see how Cypher goes as well.

I know you enjoyed the TDM action at QuakeCon and you are in a team with some familiar faces this time around, how do you think your team will shape up?

Yeah! I really like playing TDM and it will be fun to play with Fraze from AU and the portopower boys

There are some big names signed up for the comp so I'd be more than happy to make it to 3rd!

And your favourite to win the Duel tournament and why?

Strenx? pro LG

Thanks for your time Ventz and good luck in Sweden, any last words before you head over?

Fingers crossed I can get an Enuzi shirt before DH! Thanks again to Mindfreak for the support and anyone who was interested enough to read

Thanks also to the Aus community and 4sg who have previously donated/contributed to sending me to compete.
