Sequential Interview

As there are a lot of new players coming into the community with such an anticipated game, people will be interested as how the Sequential Gaming team came too be for Battlefield 3. Can you give us a brief background history?

Whilst Glock and Daft played for team immunity in bc2 they were able to build some strong relationships with some of the players in the team, especially with Spawkr. In the upcoming stages of the bf3 release Glock, Daft, cookie and I decided that we wanted to create a new 'fresh' team away from, what we felt, the constraints of building a new team at Frenetic Array. We essentially joined 2 groups of players together (us from fray) and Spawky's mates from iM (akuma, sav, chief and vev). We also decided that adding Akme to team was vital (for various reasons including his immense experience, vehicle expertise and is great fun to chill within team speak) and similar for our teams one and only daddy gamer, paK. With Glock's vast connections and knowledge of the player base in the competitive community we were able to then pick up some really solid players from various places to bolster our line-up.

In the past few weeks you have undergone some leadership changes in the form of Glock stepping down and with Blake and Savage now leading the team. Can you give us some insight into the reasons behind the change?

Besides Glock being a whipped idiot, we thought that due to him running the SEQUENTIAL Gaming organisation as a whole he was unable to invest the time into a team as 'captain' that your player base expects. This was essentially a planned transition for the team with Savage being one of the most experienced gamers in the community and myself recently being the 2ic at fray bc2.

Could you give us a quick run down of the teams roster? (A brief background of each player)

Akumah – iM (bc2) plus+,x5 etc(bf2): Old school battlefield player. Very strong infer and has a great gaming mind. Also brings a good positive vibe to the team environment with his vibrant personality.

bleaK/blaKe – fray (bc2/bf2): - Our main Squad Leader for the Inf side of the game, very smart player with great calls and sharp aim.

chaos – x5 (bc2): Very talented player excelling in most areas of the game.

cookie – fray (bc2/bf2): Is getting better and better with the more knowledge and experience he gains. Unfortunately for myself (blake) he has been able to follow my prediction when I first started playing bf with him; 'he'll be better than me when he gets some strat in his game'.

daft – fray (bc2/bf2): Probably the teams smartest player providing great stability to the main inf squad with his great value for keeping his ticket (staying alive).

epidemic/epe – 3M (cod2/4): Has made an incredible transition from the cod series to bf becoming a recognised killing machine.

glock – iM/fray (bc2), fray (bf2): Explosive infer with the ability to die 5 times in a row then all of a sudden wipe an entire squad. Loves to throw his hand up to apc when players are unavailable with the swift reply of NO from the team.

paK – fray/TBA (bc2): With no previous jet piloting experience, paK has shown great signs of becoming a strong pilot to go along with his already strong inf and armour game.

akme/rekkitfy – fray (bc2/bf2): Vastly experienced player filling the role of team vehicle whore.

Savage – iM (bc2), x5 (various cods), various bf2 teams inc: [-LT.-], 6P and iB: Very smart and patient player that provides vital balance within the team.

Chief – iM (bc2) |LAB| (bf2), : So far has shown a great all-round game in bf3 with his strong inf play, little bird piloting and armour gunning along with his keen strategic mind.

Beta – fray (bf2), various css cevoi/p teams: Strong inf play to go along with his natural ability in the air.

Precise – joining an inf squad that has played together for over a year should be a difficult thing but precise has managed to show that he can mould his game to complement his sounding squad mates.

Spawkr – iM (bc2) |LAB| (bf2),, : One of the teams tankers but has also been able to greatly improve his infantry game since released

Vevix – iM (bc2) |LAB| (bf2),, : Very clever player knowing precisely his role within the team. Has been able to form good synergy with squad mate Glock over the past month.

_elite_76 – _dn, |LAB|: One of our new recruits into the team, this guy is an old school BF player with some great ideas behind him that has amazing aim.

As this is the 1st Major tournament ever for Battlefield 3, do you believe it will be important
for your team to prepare as much as possible and showcase some good skills to establish yourself
as a top team going into the new year?

Out of the 8 teams invited to play in the tournament I'd say that we have done the least amount of preparation in the lead up to the event (scrimming/pracing) but have still been able to show some promise in a few recent scrims. So I think that with every little bit of practice we have from now to the finals stage of the tournament we will be able to see significant improvements in our game and hopefully resulting in a good showing for SQL. The game is still new and there is plenty of time for the team to grow after the New Year so there isn't a huge rush.

What would you say are the key Battlefield strengths of Sequential Gaming?

Our infantry skill was always something that stood out in the old fray team and bringing that with some very experienced and strategic players (such as savage and chief) we have been able to integrate some cohesion with our infers and the vehicle game play. With the strong inf recruits done prior to release we were able to strengthen the inf game of our team and is something that we generally like to exploit.

If you had to name one of your players as an MVP who would it be?

Definitely hard to split most of the players in the team but akme in my opinion is one of our strongest players excelling in most vehicles in the game with a good strategic mind and under-rated inf skills. I would also have to add in chaos as he has shown immense maturity in-game which complements his great infantry skills and can also be thrown in a tank if needed on the larger maps and also epedemic with his ability to rack up incredibly large amounts of frags.

Now that there is a proper scheduled tournament happening, do you believe you will change the way a normal week goes for your team. Will you guys scrim more, prepare specifically for each match, how will you and your team prepare for this tournament?

Things will stay the same really. The game is new so teams are trying to scrim as much as possible to get that edge over their competition. Unfortunately for our team we have had some interruptions of late and have not been able to scrim as much as we wanted to. So we will just try to scrim as much as possible leading up to and during the tournament and look at the maps in our server and discuss some finer points that we need to look at and possible work on.

With the map pool released, are you and your team confident with the selection of the maps for this tournament?

Yeh, I can't say for everyone but I am pretty happy with the map selection for this competition.

What do you think are the most important things for your team to do to solidify yourself victories throughout the tournament?

We need to hope our roll out works well, if it doesn't we need to hit another flag. Squad leaders need to make some good calls, and most of all people need to be more disciplined when we have the flags that we want. We don't have to push them if we have them on the backbone .

Who do you think will be your biggest opponent in this competition? Are there any rivalries between yourself and other teams?

I think the biggest opponents will be Team Immunity, MindFreak and Team Exile5

Team Immunity – Pretty much the old aK lineup that dominated the bc2 scene and winning every match they had bar one.
MindFreak – Also known as For Valor back in bf2 and bc2, these guys were also a team to beat.
Exile5 – These guys have been around for a while now, won numerous comps in bf2 and a couple in bc2 as well.
But then again we don't really know because this is the first competition for BF3 so far.

What are your predictions for this tournament, do you expect there to be any upsets?

I would hope to see either iM or Mindfreak in the finals, I am expecting x5 and LG too do some upsets throughout this tournament.

How do you guys think you will go in this tournament, what do you expect from you and your team?

At this time I would be happy with a top 5 placing, we still have a lot of things to work on in this team. We had a pretty slow start with people having uni exams and people going away for schoolies. But any loss that we get we can analyse it so we can make sure it doesn't happen again.

Do you think Battlefield 3 has any real future ahead of it in terms of competitive gaming?

I believe there could be a great future in this game, I mean most of the maps are enjoyable right now. I haven't had this much fun in a battlefield game since BFV/BF2. And we are also waiting for the Karkand pack to come out and that will give us some new life in some old school maps.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Good luck to everyone else in the competition love Blake and Savage xoxoxox

I would like to thank our sponsors Tt esports for all the gear and support .
