Just wanted to get the community thoughts on paying-to-play online. I know there are some communities that run invite leagues in which teams pay a small fee to enter in to win some nice big prizes. I was just wondering what players thought of this style of tournament?

I have been dabbling with the idea of a Winner Takes All format in which teams pay to enter, the entry fee is the pot, no funds go to the organisation and all to the winning team. I think this kind of idea would be better suited then paying an entry fee but I would love to hear peoples thoughts?

And then continuing on with the winner takes all tournament how worthy of an idea is it to let players "back their team to win" by paying double the entry fee (per person not per team) in a chance to double their share of the pot?

but it is because they have to accept it, or because they dont mind or what are the reasons team will be paying an entry fee for?

You dont have to accept to move into a higher league, theres teams that purposely stay in CGo because they dont want to move higher up.

The incentive people will play for is that cash money prize at the end of the tournament / ladder / league or whatever it is.

Could you perhaps get direct me on where to find out a little more information. Ie: what the fee's are and how much they play for?

So if a decent team doesn't pay then they stay in the open and win that but win no prizes?

I cant for the life of me find the fees.

But as for the second bit,
A decent team might not want prizes, they might just want that feeling of placing first at the end of the season
