For those of you who haven't always followed FPS, Counter-Strike is undoubtedly one of the most respected and successful FPS series of all time. Known for its punishing game mechanics, the need for teamwork as well as complex in game strategies and its large international tournaments, it is no surprise that a game like Counter-Strike has lived on for so many years. Throughout the years, there have been many changes and additions to the Counter-Strike franchise; from the release of the Counter-Strike Beta in 1999 and each subsequent update until version 1.6 to the release of Counter-Strike: Source, on the newer Source engine. The Counter-Strike franchise has struck gold. It has a winning formula which just seems to ignore time, and as the years progress, it seems that the franchise has only gotten more popular.
