Hey there friends,

not too long ago, a certain someone (who shall remain nameless) ****ed around with how my COD was setup and where all the files were kept and shit, and some other stuff with my PC. Now, I get key code in use (and I reformatted about 20 minutes ago).

Before I reformatted, I could basically have my PC in two different images (via restore to a different date option) - one I could use browsers, play HoN, SC2, be on xfire, mumble, etc - I just couldn't play cod4, my CD key was in use, no matter what CD key I used (it wasn't just my CD key actually being used). OR, I could change to a different image of a different date, and I could always get into cod4 - I had problems getting into xfire and mumble (they had to reconnect a few times before they could get in), and I couldn't use browsers (even through xfire ingame/steam pages), HoN, SC2, LoL, etc. This was strange, because I obviously had a connection to the internet, as I could use xfire, mumble, and cod4 without much trouble. Another weird thing was within 2 minutes or so of restarting my router, I could load web pages, but after that, it would go back to "cannot find the web page" or w/e - if I opened a stream in the first two minutes and it loaded successfully, it would continue to play, despite me trying to open other pages in different tabs and getting errors and shit.

I have heard of this problem a little, I just haven't heard of a solution. I've googled the shit out of it, but anything I've seen about this basically involves people saying "restart your router" without reading more than the first line of the thread. Any help would be much appreciated

EDIT: I forgot to mention, my mum's laptop or my iphone had no trouble using the internet while my PC was in its "cod4" state - neither of them were affected. Also, while I was having the troubles, I could still connect to shit via command prompt for a little extra reassurance that it isn't just my internet dying - it's a little more complicated ;/
I also tried to use my mate's spare CD key - it was in use on my pc, even though he'd used it 5 minutes before (to make sure it worked).

edit again: I can, for some reason, play cod on my mum's laptop, but not my pc. IDK why.

Re-install the proper network drivers, factory reset your modem and it should be fine. Just sounds like a networking issue.

You mean go devic manager and right click LAN or whatever it is, then go update, yea? Before I reformatted I did both of those :s... I'll try again when I'm on my pc... Could if be an issue with the partition of my drive that I didn't format?

yeah apparently the way to fix it is to open cod4, delete profiles, restart, and then it should work, and it's also said to only work for a little bit at a time, so if anyone has any info that helps (cos i can't be ****ed doing this every time it happens), $10 via paypal

delete cod4 key from registry. Factory restore modem, THEN reinstall. If that doesn't fix it you will just have to wait it out.
