Ouch.

What do the POST codes tell you? You should be able to use your motherboard manual as reference to interpret the POST codes.

What cause your old motherboard to die in the first place? Power surge?

00 - which means it's booting and giving it over to the OS.

Uhm, it died because of Perth heat, like down here it was up to 39/40 degrees. Power surged and blew like our TV/Aircon/PC.

Took the whole PC in, he reckons it all worked minus the mobo, which was strange because the old mobo seemed fine to me, this confirms it wasn't the motherboard if it posts with both just no display.

Which makes me think its my graphics card/ram.

Did you try swapping out the ram like i suggested?

Try each stick in EVERY slot one at a time and wait 30 seconds for it to work, it's only like 16 combinations so it won't take that long.

Do what l_w suggested with the RAM. If that doesn't work, try and get a working graphics card and RAM (you may as well) off a friend or something.
