I used to own a ds lite but it's pretty crappy now.. .. so what's the difference between the dsi and the 3ds

Also can I play my old ds games on the 3ds? or do they have to be the new ones

Nintendo DSi: Ninitendo DS with a larger screen and has 2 cameras and SD slot.

Nintendo DSi XL: Larger version of Nintendo DSi.

Nintendo 3DS: Next generation Nintendo DS (like from Gameboy Color to Gameboy Advance) with 3D games, wider and larger screens and an analog.

Are you serious... you can't use dsi games on a 3ds.. that doesn't seem right..

You can play all prior-games on the 3DS, just nothing backwards compatible.

Uhm I think its because of the Pro's/Con's plus the DSi is just in higher demand than the 3DS, various issues of Eye Strain and what not and if you're buying for a kid most people would just prefer the DSi, so there was a huge decline in sales of the 3DS matched to the DSi.

TLDR;

DSi more functionality for kids.
3DS more functionality for teens/adults.

^T Most sales are kids > hence price is higher.
Some countries sell 3-4x more DSi's than the 3DS.

Pros: DSi XL

Its bigger.
Has built in games.
Built in camera.
Internet.
More Games.

Cons: DSi XL

The color is a bit lower than the DS,DS Lite,DSi,and 3DS but its not that bad.

Pros: 3DS

Its in 3D.
3D CAMERA.
Facebook.
Twitter.
Netflix.
Better games.

Cons: 3DS

It hurts your eyes in 2 hrs.
The graphics are messed when playing earlier games from the DSi.
There's no friends/Pico chat.
