Never played Quake but it seems incredibly fast paced. I don't really see the point of anyone trying to start playing now as everyone that is decent has played since Quake 1.

most didnt actually start with Quake1, as it is completely different to quake 2/3.

Fatality/v00/other pro Q3 players started with quake 2 if i remember correctly.
