my monitor on my pc just went black while playing a game i tried swapping dvi ports even attempted onboard port but it didn't work it still. The green light indicates there is still power but i can't access the monitor menu or anything its just black?

Try a different power outlet, different power cable, ports, different pc/laptop etc. Might be dead.

well the green power light is on so i don't think i need a new power source

everytime u reconnect the desktop image will flash and then disappear I've tried on both laptop and pc

I had a similar problem where I had a black screen with the green monitor light still flashing. This was caused by several burst capacitors (capacitors store power / energy) at the back of my monitor. I just ended up getting a new monitor, as my previous one was out of date in the first place, and it wasn't worth getting it fixed. You probably aren't getting the same problem, but I thought i'd tell you just in case.

i think i may have the same issue as it stores enough power for a 1 second image then it dies

you said you checked the dvi ports on the back of your computer, did you check the back of the monitor?

i have a ******* new gtx 580 which aint cheap to replace and it can be the issue as i tried the mother board ports swell
