Oh my god lol, I rang up 2 weeks ago after making this thread and it's because #1 had our net capped at 8Mbps because of crashing because of the phone lines, even though we had them fixed 3 times, good job telstra and apparently there was massive build up at the time, even though we pay for a private line.

So if the net wasn't capped like when we first moved in it would run from like 12-16Mbps but then constant crashing every 10-15 minutes.
