Xbox 360 HDMI port doesn't work

I have a pro console (the one that came with 20gb hdd) and i can't get it to work using the hdmi. the hdmi ports on my tv work fine but the xbox just won't recognise that a hdmi cable is plugged in, any ideas why?

system settings > display > change the pixels to the best

or system settings > display > hdmi > enable

currently set to 1080i, the best my tv can go.

and i have no option to enable the hdmi at all. and when i put the hdmi in and go to hdmi on my tv, its just the blank screen

well i thought there was an option lol, have you pluged the HDMI into your TVs outgoing?

and have you still got the AV cables pluged in?

nah it only has hdmi input. i used to have a video recorder thing that i used with a hdmi cable and it worked no problems, but the same cable wouldnt work for the xbox

would an elite hdmi work on my pro console?

i just remembered i tried an actual microsoft one, but it didnt work either. it may have been from an elite console, im not sure. would that matter?

you dont need to use the xbox hdmi cable, i brought a cheap one and it worked fine. i only recently brought the proper xbox one cause i needed it so i could use my headset.

i suggest it may be an issue with your xbox, try another tv with a hdmi input? if you dont have another tv you could try your computer monitor?

i might just sell my xbox to my brother and get an elite

i won't be able to try another tv for a couple of months, and my laptop doesnt have a hdmi port. thanks for the help anyway though

look had the same problem i just recently got hdmi and it wasn't wrking @ 1st..Do u use optical aswell or just st8 HDMI if u use optical thats ur problem(bye an adapter) if not then it must be the xbox mine wasn't wrking but i just unpluged and resset it wrks now

By optical he means optical audio.

Sounds like your xbox's HDMI is broken.

Have you tried changing the resolution to 720p then restarting and plugging in the HDMI? My TV is unable to do 1080p, but can do 1080i and quite frankly games look so much nicer when using 720p compared to 1080i.
