DICE's ever-vocal senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz has some new things to say on a wide variety of Battlefield 3-related issues.
In response to a comment made about the FAMAS needing a nerf (but attachments being fine), Kertz says, "FAMAS with foregrip and silencer is op. FAMAS alone has disadvantages, but the accessories totally cancel them."

Meanwhile, another thing fans have had mixed opinions on is the Operation Metro map when playing game types such as Conquest. Does the map provide too many opportunities for congestions and crowding? Kertz says, "given the high popularity of metro, I think it's fine."

Then there's the question of bringing the PC version's Comrose to consoles, and how that would be accomplished. Twitter member Thal3030 suggests to Kertz "comrose 4 console button. Hold down the Y or triangle button. It's perfect." In response to this, Kertz replied, "It's being discussed."
Kertz is asked if some of the pistols or handguns need a buff. "No, they get used a ton," Kertz says.

they are avoiding Nerfing or Buffing stuff just because people think its unfair. given the famas is pretty insane but i dont really mind as long as they alter it a little bit,(more recoil on it even though you have grip) then im fine with it.thoughts?

Yeah its dmg and time to kill is pretty full on compared to most other weapons. Or as you say maybe more recoil added

I think the tanks need more splash dmg and the repair tool nerfed a bit

I can understand why they haven't as the optics is so bloody good...it allows you to be precise with your shots. However when the M320 noob tube has more splash than a 120mm shell you know there is slight design flaws. Its not real tanking IMO....and the ability to repair so quickly and for so long needs a slight nerfing.

Not a big fan of the guided shells even though I use them....you kind of have to but I still find them OP. Just as I don't like the Reactive Armour its a must in most situations. Especially if you come across someone who has it and you don't. I don't think you should be able to "soak" up damage like that especially with the repair the way it is -

The other situation I am worried about with Reactive Armour is if you use it and then commit suicide. When you respawn do you have brand new reactive armour? I haven't tested this out yet....it may not work that way just something I thought of today. Same as swapping positions with someone in the tank do they get reactive armour if its their specialization, after yours has been used up? If anyone has tested this....would be good to know

I have been saying they need to give tanks mopre splash dmg for a while, you have to direct hit them in most situations and when theres 2-3 engineers tearing you up you have to spend that extra time to line them up which can defs kill

I think there should be a reload time when using normal tanks shells and guided shells. I would assume they come from the same barrel on the tank so you shouldn't be able to use a guided shell and then instantly follow up with the normal tank shell. Tanks could do with more splash damage since you can fire at and enemy and hit the ground a right next to him and it hardly does any damage. I think reactive armour is fine. Most will use proximity scan or reactive armour so I think it's fair enough if someone wants armour over knowing where the enemy is. Console don't need Comrose at all.

What is comrose? lol

Famas is quite OP but only at close to slightly medium range unless the person has a good shot. I don't think it's that much of an issue. My biggest thing atm is the LMG's have turned to shit since that update! I used to rape with my M60E4 but now I find I get smashed no matter what, I find it's the same for all of the LMG's too :/

the new QB 55 or whatever it is called is not bad, as for the Reactive Armour....i dunno ya gotta use it but its just another one of those things where the dev's have tried too hard to put too much into the game IMO.

In the last one the balance was between faster reload, extra dmg, or extra armour all much of a muchness this isn't balanced out that way if anything the only counter balance is the faster reload

The FAMAS could use some more recoil, I like it how it is, but too many people use it which is alittle annoying at times.

Operation Metro is really fun for me. but it is annoying when your in a game by yourself and you cant even get to B or worse getting spawn trap.

Reactive armour is pretty crazy when they have a repairer as well

when i was using that famas all i had to do is tap the trigger for long range shots and theyd drop in about 4 bursts so id think dmg reduction at long range and bit more recoil.

The issue with reducing damage is it's not like BC2 where each gun had different damage. In BF3 the damage depends on the type of caliber so I'm pretty sure lowering it at range would also lower damage at range for the guns with the same caliber.

yeah, well then the only real option is increase recoil but still wouldnt think that would be enough
