We've all been there, typing smart remarks on the keyboard to the console competitive gaming scene, notably the XBOX community, (as it's bigger than PS3). Coining terms just as ecboc and console fags, teasing them about auto aim and the fact that the mouse and keyboard > controllers.
PC gamers need to acknowledge that console gaming is a much bigger market than PC, and that many games will be developed on the console and ported to the PC, instead of the other way around. Much has changed since a few years ago, when A-List games were developed on the PC and ported to the console at a later date. Take the original Call of Duty for example, I was playing in Season 2 of the Gamearena ladders in 2005 on my 2.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 3400+ and NVIDIA MX420 graphics card. Now the COD developers are focusing on the console market, and some will say neglecting the roots of the game which made the game what it is today.
But there is a good reason for this, nearly every family has a gaming console as their primary gaming machine, XBOX360s, Sony Playstation 3s & PSPs, Nintendo Wii and DSs are some of the modern day gaming consoles. There are many advantages and disadvantages to both the PC & console gaming market but this article is not about that.
Here are five reasons why I think the competitive PC gaming scene NEEDS the console competitive scene:
1. More spectators to watch e-sports
I truly believe that PC is the premiere competitive platform, however the sales number of PC games do not reflect this. If we want competitive PC games to succeed in the mainstream environment, then we need more people to watch it. Let's step into the shoes of the console players for a second, if you are seeing Starcraft II for the first time, would you understand what you are looking at?
But let's take Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, (who cares which number, they're all the same) as our game of choice. Competitive PC gamers play a modified modded version of the game, this is to award player skill, and not player luck. Console players, (remember – they are the bigger crowd) can relate when they spectate PC players as they have also played the game. So when the team sniper does an insane 360 non-scope halfway across the map mp_strike, both PC & console players can appreciate what just happened.
Read the first one and it had some pretty good points. Will definately read the rest.
I agree with your first statement "PC is the premiere competitive platform" but it doesn't mean that PC players have to come onto xbox forums and think they are king shit and say that competetive xbox takes no skill. If they started playing competetive console they wouldn't be near the top. Every platform (PC, Xbox, PS3) each takes different skills to be able to be good, and people don't seem to realise that.
There are flame wars in every thread where people rip on and flame people for what their "Default Game" is, why does it matter?
That's my rant, don't want to start a flame war just stating my opinion.
"So when the team sniper does an insane 360 non-scope halfway across the map mp_strike, both PC & console players can appreciate what just happened."
I can acknowledge that when one of my XBOX360 COD players does that its because he has aim assist on, when nick does it i know its because he is cheating.

Aim assist doesn't mean it's an aimbot..... The chances of a 360 no-scope halway across map on a console is still like 0.0005% likeliness of happening. PC players honestly don't even understand what aim assist does if they all think like what you just said.
Very interesting article, I agree with this 100% but I do not think that it will ever stop PC gamers talking shit.
You said it yourself, ("PC is the premiere competitive platform" and I do agree with that. But what your saying is that Consoles have a bigger market/bigger community but that is all we have.
Consoles still have shit graphics, shit customisation and shit controllers compared to PC. A larger market and more money for competitive is not going to get the PC community to stop thinking they are a better platform when they are.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.
You can't be serious...
