Hello new & current CG Gears players
This thread has been constructed by Arvo and Myself, so if you have any questions regarding the thread or anything else, don't be ashamed to inbox us, or any of the Admins (Midnite or Roguey)
This thread has been provided to the new members of the gears community and has some useful info for our current members.
I'll separate the major sections up into spoilers to de-clutter it all up.
I'm new and have no team/clanSo if you've just heard of Cybergamer, welcome to the Gears section! So let's get into it. If you find that you have barely any friends that like Gears, but you want to make a team and play clan matches? Head over to the Recruiting Section Here and see if anyone is in your situation too.
LFM = Looking for Members
LFC = Looking for Clan
So firstly, if you're by yourself, checkout teams who are LFM and post in the thread with your interest, or directly PM the teams captain!
If you have a mate or two who wanna start a team up, but you just need 1 or 2 more players to help out, Create a Thread and called it 'Team Name LFM'

Okay, so I have a Team/Few Mates, what now?So when you enter the Gears of War section (I have it bookmarked on my Web Browser as 'Cybergamer' because I don't really view much else in Cybergamer) at the top, you'll see 'ladders'.
Yep, Cybergamer offers Gears of War 3, four different ladders, in which your team can compete in.
Execution Ladder - http://www.cybergamer.com.au/xbox360/gowmp/ladder/
So if you're an older member getting back into the Gears scene of competitive, you'll be familiar with this ladder. I won't go into much details with each ladder, so i'll direct you to the rules of each ladder, and you can see how they play out!
Rules here (Each ladder has a different set of Rules, so make sure to read them all!)
Alpha Ladder - http://www.cybergamer.com.au/xbox360/gow3alpha/ladder/
If you've played the Playlist on Gears 3, then it's quite self-explanatory.
Rules here
Moshpit Turbo XP Ladder - http://www.cybergamer.com.au/xbox360/gow3/ladder/
This ladder is a bit different. you move up on the ladder by earning points. So if you beat a team, you are rewarded with 'x' amount of points and you lose 'x' amount of points if you lose. With the Execution and Alpha ladder, when you beat a team, you take their spot in the ladder, so obviously you may only be in 1 challenge at a time, whereas with the Moshpit ladder, you can actually be in up to 4 challenges at once! So for instance, if all your team are on at once, you can go through and challenge a few teams and play possibly 3 clan matches in 1 night! Apposed to the other 2 ladders, where you send the challenge for a few days notice and both teams can prepare for the match. That's why this ladder is known as the 'Turbo Ladder'
Rules here
Doubles (2v2) Ladder - http://www.cybergamer.com.au/xbox360/gow3doubles/ladder/
Also pretty self explanatory. If you're struggling to get a team of 4 to compete in the other 3 ladders, above. Grab a mate and compete in this ladder. The settings on the ladder are the same as the Moshpit Turbo Ladder so you can challenge up to 3 other teams if you like!
Rules here
Okay, so now you should have the general jist of how Gears of War 3 works with Cybergamer. Now all you need to is head over to each ladder (if you desire to compete in all 4 ladders - do it!) and there shall be a button at the top of the ladder that says 'Create Team', you'll need to create a team for each ladder that you compete in.
This is what a team looks like here
So when you make a team, you'll have to invite you team mates (you'll see how to when you make the team) which means your team mates will need to register an account on Cybergamer, so you can invite them. You will need to invite them to each team you make too.
Once you have your team set-up with your members, head over to the ladders, and at the top of the ladder it will say 'Join Ladder' and you will need to go to each ladder and press that.
Viola! You're now part of our community, participating in Cybergamer's Gears Ladders! Get Challenging!
PS. Things can be tricky up in those steps, so be sure to Inbox any of us or Create a Thread and we'll get you some help.
TournamentsThis info is handy for everyone here.
Gears of war, in general, hasn't had too many competitions/tournaments/LANs at all, BUT, as of late, a huge push has been put on them. We need as much support to get these going!
Midnite (one of the admins) is preparing a tournament (free of entry) coming up early 2012, with details to come soon.
But we're looking at the big picture too, ACL.
Australian Cyber League (Another Gaming Website) - http://www.aclpro.com.au/
And they are looking at picking up Gears of War 3 on the pro circuit for LANs and Online Tournaments (which is a big thing).
so if you'd like to support this (just do it), head over to ACL and register an account there.
and go to these links and show the support

ANY CLAN MEMBER READ
This thread is listings, so comment on it with your team, and comment whether your team will compete in LANs and Online Competitions, and that's right here
That would help out alot, cheers!
LivestreamsWant to check out some actual clan matches before having a go yourself? We have dedicated members who livestream clan matches on a regular basis.
Here's some links to a few great ones so far!
www.twitch.tv/teamrex/b/302851761 - skip to 20mins for start
www.twitch.tv/teamrex/b/302949335 - Not sure when that one starts
But in this thread here you can keep up to date with the latest matches that are going to be streamed. They're a really great watch, with usually Roguey commentating, so you know it's good. Just make sure you have your forum setting to 'Show posts' you can see when someone posts in threads, it's on the right >
Last little note from meI know this could seem like a burden to some people, but I've been doing it for the last couple of months now.
chuck in your bio on Xbox live something like
Head over to http://www.cybergamer.com.au/xbox360/gow/ for Gears 3 competitions and clan matches!
I know it may seem corny, and annoying, but if enough people do it, players will notice it.
After a good sesh on Gears, I've usually sent all my recent players a msg (not the Japs) with that message above ^ and some players have checked it out and thanked me (I'm pretty sure there's 2 teams that have joined recently due to me referring them) So that's just something extra if you have the time
Use this thread to introduce yourself too, if you're new!
But if this thread covers one of your problems, just reply on this thread, don't create a new one.
Metapod & Arvo out!
