My fps in cod4 has been dropping randomly down to 60-80 fps which is making me lag for a short while ( 2-5 secs). I normally run the game at constant 125 on every map.
Specs:
GPU: 9600gt
CPU: Intel core duo @ 2.8ghz
Ram: 2 gig
OS: Vista = \
This only started happening about two days ago once i started to run SWTOR.

Any help would be appreciated.

Put resolution and graphics on the lowest possible and still got this problem.

But it does sound like you're running another game in the background, happens to me sometimes; but I'm sure you'd know if it was.
Does it stay at 60-80 or does it go back up to 125 after a short while?

It just drops to 80 and shoots back up, causing a short time of fps lag. The only thing i have in the background running are ts and xfire like i usually have running

Yeah, ever since I upgraded to my SSD, I get like 5-10 seconds of just freeze time when I first get into a server. If it's not affecting gameplay, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

It is affecting my game play though = \. The lag is annoying.

Hey mate,
Sounds like it could be a problem with Overheating, Are you Overclocking? If so maybe bring the Speeds down. Also check so see if your CPU needs more thermal paste. Check your GPU, If your running Afterburner, bring them speeds down.

Have you updated your Video Card drivers recently? Might be a faulty driver.

The problem is system lag, not internet. If it was internet the connection would just time out.

Also it might be a good idea to start investing and planing for a new system, Most games need at lest a Quad core and 4GB of ram. You can get a decent rig for around $600. Talk to me if you like help building one.

I have my gpu @ stock speeds. It only started happening two days ago

Cpu stock speeds and i cant update my gpu driver because vista is a pile of shit, cant even open the nvinda control panel.

How about your temperatures? Maybe you might have bad airflow, are you using a Air based system or water?

Download CoreTemp and that will tell you what your cores temperatures are at.

Air based, i have the side of my case off , so i dont think its temps
