Recently I have installed two oldish games

- Call of Duty 4
- Soldier of Fortune II

I will be playing these games for 15-20 odd minutes and then my game will completely freeze causing me to reboot my entire computer.

my video card is a ATi Raedon 4800 Series 1GB - i think..

Rather annoying, google really isnt giving me much information

Update DirectX
Check CPU & GPU temps while gaming.

So only those games cause your PC to lock up?

sounds like overheating, doesn't surprise me with the summer heat, my comp gets that hot in games that i can't play for a decent amount of time :/ tried moving your computer somewhere cooler? under a aircon or something?

It might be overheating.. Turn your fan speed up to 50 percent manually in Catalyst Control Centre

could be directx issue or overheating

I had a problem like this, turned out to be dust in my cpu + gpu. Give your whole pc a nice clean / vacuum.

I dont get why it'd only be on some games though and not others
I mean these are two really old games.

did you update directx or did you completely ignore it?

I updated it, havent tried it yet just dealing with idiots lol.

Just posting what worked for me. I was in the same sorta situation, was overheating in cod4 but wouldn't in WoW, HoN, or LoL
