Australia vs India - 3rd Test - Match Preview

India lost the first two test matches of the 4 match series in a rather disappointing manner, the Indian cricket team heading towards the 3rd test at Perth starting next Friday. The Indians will need nothing less than a perfect performance against the buoyant hosts to entertain any thoughts of getting back into the series. The Australians on the other hand, will be confident that their youthful and promising team is well and truly on the rise in international cricket after their slight slump during the transitional phase over the last couple of years.

The Indian team will be aware that there is literally no margin for error this time around when the travel to Perth for the 3rd test, a venue that had brought them historic success 3 years ago. In recent years, however, the pitch at the WACA has changed considerably after being re-laid and is presumed to have shown appreciable movement off the seam along with the pronounced bounce that was inherent in the wicket. News the Indian team will not relish much given their recent struggles against the seaming ball.

Perth Pitch is the fastest pitch of the world where all fast bowlers wants to try their skills for sure. The pitch at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) stadium in Perth has been favouring the bowlers quite a bit in recent times with there being a healthy covering of grass on the pitch aiding seam and swing bowling. The bounce however will be true, helping the ball on the bat, aiding stroke-play which could make for an exciting contest. But before talkng further about this lets just see what happened in the Second Test.

We all waiting for the third test and to see how it will be taken by all. Somefacts about the Perth , The timmings of Perth is almost same to Indian standard so Indian people will be enjoying this test with more fun . So hope all go fine we see a good match after all big setbacks and upsdowns.

INDIAN TEAM: G Gambhir, V Sehwag, R Dravid/ R Sharma, S Tendulkar, VVS Laxman/R Sharma, V Kohli, MS Dhoni, R Ashwin, Z Khan, I Sharma, U Yadav

AUSTRALIAN TEAM: E Cowan, D Warner, S Marsh, R Ponting, M Clarke, M Hussey, B Haddin, M Starc, P Siddle, B Hilfenhaus, R Harris

Feel free to discuss predictions/influential players and all other things relating to this Match.

Punter to go B1G. Will be interesting to see if our bowlers can remove India's batsmen at the SCG, and vice versa.

Did you put any thought into that post at all?

India to romp another unprepared Australian side.

We're not really unprepared... especially considering we comfortably won the last match.

With a few tweaks this current team has the potential to be the best test side in the world by a long way.

But being 4/50 is not test match play. Cowan is a strong introduction to the test team but we'll never be able to compare to the squad we had 5 years ago.

Why do we need to compare to the squad we had 5 years ago? Yes they were the best but why live in the past. Australia is in it's rebuilding stage and has plenty of young talent coming through, and with some experience, they have the potential to be number 1 in all forms of the game. All we lack is consistency (which was shown in the second innings in Melbourne). Yes 4/50 is bad and we shouldn't have thrown our 2nd innings away after having such a successful first innings but it takes a lot of maturity to fight through that and get the team into a defendable position. A lot of leadership was shown from our veterans in Hussey and Ponting. Australia are on the right track, their supporters just need to be patient and stop ridiculing the side. It won't be too long before we are fighting for number 1 again.

That is true and you are right about looking into the future. But how could that make us number one when the other teams also have that influx of new talent? We're playing India right now, that doesn't compare to England or South Africa.

Yeah but did we not rip them to pieces for the majority of the match in the bowling department? And they're comfortably one of the strongest batting lineups in the history of cricket. Always going to drop a few early wickets everyone now and then, especially on a tough pitch in the second innings. Being a mainly inexperienced side such as ours will make a difference as well. In the end it came down to our veterans who did what they're there to do, which is to use their experience to make a stand in those tough circumstances.

Sure we had a godsquad for a while and it's going to be difficult for anything to compare to them, but i honestly think this lineup is starting to take shape and it definitely has superstar potential.
