It's not that non-Sydney players wouldn't be welcomed (I assume), it's just that there hasn't been a lot of clarity on this tournament.

As the billboard reads:

It's a ~5 week tournament, play two games every monday.

Closing date is 1st February.

Adzz I don't know what your connection is with the guy running the tournament but I think it's going to be extremely difficult to obtain 12 teams (5 main, 1 sub) over a scheduled competition at LAN, heck it's hard enough trying to reach 12 teams at a 1 day event in Sydney.

This is a pretty big prize pool, especially for a single LAN cafe to be running, why not propose to him a 1day tournament. I bet you'd be able to get the top 3 Australian teams to fly in and attract some more attention with that kind of an audience.

It's just a thought.

Edit*

After looking at it for a while:
I'm guessing this is an actual Sydney-players only tournament because the Cafe Owner wants to draw local attention because they would be the only people to return to the cafe once the tournaments over?

Spot, I have already proposed a 2-day event to substitute the 5weeks that he wants to run (lets all face it...5 weeks is a LONG ******* TIME! XD)...

I will put it forward once again, even though i knew that the feedback i would get when i posted this would be based around how long the tourney would go for.

My next question is:
When i speak to the owner, and if the tournament was a 1 or 2-day event, who would happily sign up?

Spot: he would like the attention of locals, but lets face it, ANY Attention is good attention amirite?

Is this where EPI was/is? Haven't been there since 2003, so not sure.

I don't mind professional teams coming, but they should give notice prior so that
1. They don't dick move the other local players/professional teams in an attempt to shady the competition.
2. Your paying a large amount of expenses to fly/stay and you cut a proportion into that for travel expense.
3. Like Ozzie realized, the owner wants to promote a return on his business. The top 3 teams fly in, take all the prizes, don't return, the other players arn't happy that they paid to lose and don't return either.

the place is better promoted if the best players in the country are there rather than regular pubs
