Lately my internet has been shiting itself and i won't have a constant internet connection for more that about 1 min before a YT video will stop loading.. or i will be disconnected from a game. I actually haven't seen the end of a game in weeks, even if i join with only a few minutes to go..

About a week a go we had a technician down from Melbourne to have a look at out internet because he could see our internet supply was ****ed. He has now fixed a few things and its a bit faster.

We talked to him again last night, and our internet supply is apparently fine now. BUT i find it worse than ever.

Im not disconnecting from XBL, it just drops out of the game within a minute or so and i can join another one straight away.. same with my computer when im loading YT vids, loads 30sec then il have to re-load the next part and stuff.

If anyone can help PLEAAAASE let me know, maybe its just a setting somwhere or something because obviously the only problem we have now is in our house..

and this is our internet speed.

The DL should be 5-6 times faster for the internet plan we are on

Thanks in advance

You must provide decent information if you want some help.

Start by posting if you have cable or dsl etc.....include all the lines in your house, filters, and you modem.

Have you had lightning at your house recently because I have been having a similar issue and when we called our internet provider they said that may be the cause of it? We reset the modem to factory settings and it temporally fixed it but now its back

You might have to much shit plugged in. How many pcs \ consoles do you have going \ wireless devices? iPhones, iPad etc.

I stick with D-Link modems \ routers just because of previous experiences with them, I have had no issues.

How far away are you from your telephone exchange? ( Google, you will have to enter your address and stuff )

So you had internet working fine before? What happened since then?

Get a new modem perhaps, a ADSL2+ D-LINK Modem\Router all in 1 wonder is only like $110 roughly, you can always take it back if it fixes nothing.

I also had similar issues once where my Telephone cable was sort of kinked, internet was shitting itself, perhaps check and replace it.

If all else fails, unplug everything bar 1 pc or xbox, see if that helps, you might be overloading it. Probably not though.

The only things connected Via Cables are 2 XBOX's
3 laptops all run on wireless and an iPhone so not much i dont think

I will try and see if i can do anything first before i buy a new modem AGAIN .. but i will keep that in mind

Quote from adsl2exchanges.com on the 4th of January 2012:
You are 946 m from MERB as the crow flies.
Estimated cable length of 1513.6 m.
Estimated speed of 17666
Zone 3

Before it got this bad yes it was working fine, but we used to have some problems ages ago but its been fine up until a about a month ago

Il check so see if there are any kinks/bent cables but i don't think so

Try changing the phone line cable that goes into the modem, your ping is off it's rails hard core and your getting PacketLoss.

It's cheap as and easy to change assuming it's not under your house or something lol

Other than that, it looks like something is going on via a 3rd party, ie I have no idea.

Could possibly be your modem or your DSL cable, I had a similar problem horrible speeds(0.2mbps), connection dropouts, you name it (I'm from Melb and on Telstra also), We ended up getting a new modem and everything is perfect now.

Please perform an isolation test.

SPOILER: Isolation Test

From personal experience, these types of faults are usually caused by a faulty modem or the deterioration of the phone line so make sure to try plugging your modem into a different phone jack as suggested in step 3 of the isolation test.

So the ADSL light on the front of the modem is constant and not flashing at all.

I just tested the speed again while there is no filter and the phone disconnected and the speed is back up to normal

Yet the ping is still f'd and there is still packet loss

Start plugging back each equipment with filter one at a time. Wait for a few minutes and observe the DSL sync light before proceeding to the next equipment. If synchronisation goes off, it is possible you may have found the equipment that is causing the problem.

Also the packet loss isn't a huge issue unless you download large files. If the packet loss was above 5% that would be a problem. Ring up your ISP and ask what your interleaving status is. It should be on.... if it's not on, then tell them to turn it on. This will minimise any issues regarding packet loss.

Your ping is fine. From what you have posted, you are a distance away from your cabinet so that will cause the ping to be a little higher locally. Still... less than 90ms means 4 bar on CoD.

This pretty much tells you that there is a line fault with that phone jack. Hope your parents pay for the phone line insurance lol as that is covered under it. For now you should plug your modem back in the other phone line and plug everything back in 1 by 1 with a couple of minutes of separation to see if there is any further fault with any equipment.
