Good evening my fellow gamers!

Basically I am completely clueless when it comes to computer smarts so I'm afraid I have had to resort to one of these annoying threads. I am going to assume something in my computer is shit, and causing massive FPS lag on cod4. I used to be able to get 250 with ease. Now i struggle to hold 125, and it's constantly spiking. Reformatted 3 days ago, updated all drivers.. yea that's about as far as my PC fixing skills go

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory 4096MB RAM
Hard Drive: 500 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.100618-1621)
Motherboard: AMD Athlon 64, 2600 MHz

If any of you smart cookies out there could advise me what to change that would be awesome! If you require any more info just lemme know

updated Windows? might need to update DirectX. if windows is updated, put cod4 dvd in and try installing DX from it.

Download CPU-ID HW monitor and give us your temps when you are on your desktop doing nothing and in-game.

It's been close to 40 degrees in QLD and my temperatures have risen a shit load so it could be your GPU is overheating

Edit: Also download MSi afterburner, so if your temperatures are high you can edit the fan speed on the GPU

I've found with my graphics cards you have to turn up the fan speed manually to get them to cool the graphics card as the auto function wont work. Now I don't know if this is the case with Nvidia.

So as said above this post download CPU-ID/GPU-Z check the temps mid game and see what's going on.

@ Acula: Will try thx bruZ

@ Cro: It' had a little bit, not heaps, cleaned and still no difference.

@ Thouard: Hmm good idea but it's been typical Adelaide weather lately (aka dogshit) so i doubt that. Will try anyway.

Cheers dudes.

that, but it seems to be happening to a few people for no obvious reason.
