Ive made a few Dream Team threads lately but i think this one should be interesting as there are a few cricket fanatics on CG. Take a look at Infiltrator's thread for the summer of cricket thread.
www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/326572/Summer-of-Cricket-20112012-Discussion-Thread/

Anyways, be logical with your lineup. Here goes mine.

1. Matthew Hayden (Australia)
2. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)
3. Ricky Ponting [C] (Australia)
4. Brian Lara (West Indies)
5. Sachin Tendulkar (India)
6. Jaques Kallis (South Africa)
7. Adam Gilchrist [W] (Australia)
8. Shane Warne (Australia)
9. Andrew Flintoff (England)
10. Dale Steyn (South Africa)
11. Glenn McGrath (Australia)

Vettori > Warne
Vettori is a much better batter and can take big wickets like warne.
Just my opinion

Depends what era you are talking about though. Last 15 years for me though:

1. Matthew Hayden
2. Brian Lara
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Rahul Dravid
6. Jacques Kallis
7. Adam Gilchrist
8. Dan Vettori
9. Shane Warne
10. Dale Steyn
11. Glenn McGrath

Would have 2 spinners as Kallis is a freak and you could count Vettori as a batsmen anyway, just has a knack of scoring runs.

Forgot about danny. Yeah true, easily one of the worlds best all rounders at the moment. But i still think Warne is the leg spin legend and no one can out spin him, with a batting lineup ive given i think it'd be hard to beat.

Any era, dunno if Johnson should have a place in a dream team lol. I guess you have your opinion though.

Johnson can smash a decent 50 with the bat, and can also bring home 5+ wickets every game. Him + warne + mcgrath = unstoppable.

i also edited my post you quoted so yeah

My best evert team from stats and what Ive seen

1) Arthur Morris (AUS)
2) Sunil Gavaskar (IND)
3) Sir Donald Bradman (AUS)
4) Sir Vivian Richards (WI)
5) Brian Lara (WI)
6) Sir Garfield Sobers (WI)
7) Adam Gilchrist (AUS)
8) Shane Warne (AUS)
9)Macolm Marshall (WI)
10) Wasim Akrmam (PAK)
11)Dennis Lillee (AUS)

Some ommitted players
Tendulker- very over rated player scored most of his centuries on roads and whilst is a very very good batsman is not worthy of a best ever side. Only won test match comes to mind where he "saved" India.

Jack Hobbs- Never saw him play but he has the most first class centuries so he would be the 3rd best opener in my opinion

Greg Chappell- On pure class one of the greatest. Best straight driver ever.

Murali- If you would choose 2 spinners he would be in.

Imran Khan- If you were after 2 allrounders you would choose him.

Any of the big 4 from the West Indies back in their prime could make this side
