Basicly, my computer only crashes under specific circumstances.

1. when I play cod4 with either a youtube video or music file open in the background.

2. very occasionally when I alt+tab from or into cod4.

most annoying crashes ever as they are very unpredictable. Any help on the issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: The only thing that I can think of would be to check your event logs.

i had something like that

ended up unistalling the gfx drivers completely then doing a fresh install,
doing an update over existing files didnt work for me, and that fixed it for me.

also did some research on my card, because apparently the 480 had problems with the recent drivers or something like that :S
