I've been 'brain storming' with the other Admins in regards to Leagues and whatnot. One thing that came up was that we, and apparently the community, wanted Leagues to hurry up already, and not start so late.

From this we basically devised the idea to instead of running CGo finals for a total of 4 weeks, we run them all as an ODC on Sunday12th of February, say 4-10pm max (time change obv, people eat dinner etc).

The catch to this, is obviously your team has to be available for it (and missing it after a whole season would be an absolute drag), and that the map lists would have to be altered when compared with previous CGo Finals.

Generally they've gone R1 3 maps, R2 3 maps, R3 3 maps, GF 5 maps. Instead, to do this properly and without going too nutzy, we'd have to drop it back to 1 1 1 3. Overall, and all things going well, it should take about 5 hours to complete, 2.25-3 hours for Rounds 1-3, 2.25-3 hours for Grand Finals (when all three maps are played for the GF and the game is uberclose).

It'd still be in the regular format (AFL system) that we use normally i.e. this image here. So it'd still be Pro Inter and Am - 8 teams per finals bracket (24 total).

Further, we'd nullify that the 'GF teams get auto invites to Leagues' as some teams may not be able to make the ODC. But, teams will still be able to make Leagues if they can't complete Finals; completing them'd just help.

This'd all basically mean Leagues start sooner (by 3-4 weeks), we can fit FFYI and tie-breakers with ease and we'd get to see if ODCs are 'okay' for SND. We're aware the idea is a little 'out there'; but it would be a nice development within SND, CG and all of us - to be able to do so.

Anywho, if you're looking to compete in finals, share your thoughts. Keep shit on topic and be all helpful and such. This is something we'd really like to be able to do, but of course we can't if no one wants to do it!

*Would also like to add, the idea could extend to be made less troublesome. I.e. on that Sunday, we get the Qualify/Elim Finals out of the way, the Semi Finals and the Prelim finals too - (will take about 3 hours if we do 1 1 1 3) then just let teams have a week to finish their GF's - still means we start Leagues sooner.

We opted for suggesting it instead of forcing it out-right. We care.

Perhaps a reduction in the rounds played both sides to help speed it up a little bit more?

I myself know that playing Search for a long period of time can be draining as hell, especially on the 1 day.

I also agree with your update, do the semi's and what not one weekend and allow either the top 4 or just the grand final to play out the weekend after.
