Okay, so after the last test, Dhoni's over rate was 2 overs too slow. As a result, he is suspended for 1 test match, 40% of his match fee and all his team mates have 20% of their match fee GONE. Fair enough they get paid so much that it's not really a problem, but do you really think this is a fair punishment?

Yes. His bowlers deliberately and knowingly bowled at a slower rate.

I see what you guys are saying how he broke the rules, and in the last over they called for someone to put on the leg pads on the first day, so obviously wasting time. And also I remember back in '08 when Ishant Sharma purposely wasted time against Mike Clarke in that 5 balls, 3 wickets fiasco, but can you see where I am coming from where being 2 overs slow can result in such a punishment?

I say its becasue they played 4 quicks and Dhoni is used to managing time wth one and sometimes 2 spinners. Should of been fined but being suspended is too far.

Rules came in place June 2011 to prevent such incidents as the 2008 one.
India have been fined for this occurring twice within one year.
Dhoni would be aware that he has already been warned and, should therefore face the ban.
2 overs slow doesn't matter, he should've realised the over rate was slow and put in a part timer to speed it up or had a word with the quicks.
