When you can barely comprehend the idea that the majority of general BF3 soldier stats will relate more to casual Pub play as opposed to tournament / comp play and making reference to a PUB KDR indicating anything skill wise in Comps - it really puts a question on your intelligence. No wonder your EA account got hacked. Anyway keep on enjoying your custom fun CG tournaments ayyyee bro. ( ps maybe put down the SV98 a bit and your W/L ratio might go up, objectives before KDR! )

Baron,
Never claimed to be a hugely competitive player - just have participated in other comps outside of CG. Despite your amazing sarcasm, RPG spam does increase without the ability for teams to use scopes/accessories to take them out quicker. Anyway am sure you know better than DICE regarding Tournament gameplay and how BF3 has been designed for these restrictions. After all their $1.6 million tourney will be restricted to no unlocks right ? Oh wait no it's not. Yeah shame about the Recon class , don't personally play it that much - however the tactics used in EU / US Tournaments have been pretty amazing and made for some great tactical matches (Tugs+spawning).

Quote from Baron' on the 29th of January 2012:
"The right choice was made on both a competitive and a game enjoyment basis."

Indeed, will leave you to enjoy your custom BF3 Tourney/Comps to maximise your enjoyment.

PS - why call your own community spastics ? So much hostility !

My account didn't get hacked SV98 comprises 11% of my total frags and I always have a TUGs/MAV down on metro giving the team constant scans. I have never seen anyone with a 1 kdr play well in a match. You have to try really hard to be a complete dead shit to get a 1 kdr on pubs srsly.

All your points are invalid, try again.

The situations where a skilled player only has a 1.0KDR from pub play would be few and far between... if indeed that situation would arise.

Your statement regarding the ability of scope/accessories to prevent RPG spam seems highly artifical to me, but it raises an interesting point; you suggest then that the use of such attachments greatly increases your ability to kill someone as soon as they step from cover. What are your thoughts on the impact that has on competitive gameplay? Do you actually believe that to be a positive thing? Because raising the skill requirement from simply Mouse Button One was one of the reasons for restricting attachments.

I'm sure DICE had the game's competitive interests at heart, as opposed to appealing to casual rands (OOH SHINY ATTACHMENTS JUST LIKE COD). Also, they'd be keen to imply that the game as it is is not absoluely perfect for competitive play... lol.

Great tactical matches with TUGS+spawn beacons... kk. Guided shells and javelins are so kewl 2! + mortars!!!

Also, that $1.6m competition is for consoles, so don't suggest DICE knows anything about competition rof.

I'm just curious why the Bi-pod is removed for support.....seriously? without the bi-pod its just a poorly accurate assault rifle. Plus the bi-pod comes standard with the weapon. It's like taking the scopes off the sniper.

P.s I'm not saying OMG THEsE RULeS ARE ShITTY! I'm just curious, as a major part of the teamwork of a support is setting up and suppressing.

This. It seems bad to restrict that.

For all you ladies complaining about the restrictions on the 10v10 ladder. There is a 8s ladder running with pretty much AW rules why not switch?

No, other spastics who cannot comprehend what is meant by 'stock weapons, no unlocks' are doing it wrong.

Interesting. Does this mean the people who didn't understand the rules should have leaned on that great tool, Assumption, and just done whatever they thought was meant?
Maybe that way we could have had disputed matches, in-game arguments, spoiled games; and THEN we could have thrashed it out on the forums afterwards (instead of before).

The rules contained self-contradictory statements. Worse, the self-contradictory statements were to be interpreted in different ways for different weapons (stock LMG w/out bipod, stock sniper w/ scope). The word "Stock" meant "Starting" as well as "Unmodified" (except for LMG's) and new readers were supposed to pick this up... how? Stephen Hawking, brand new to BF3, would have had questions.

Your wording of "Stock weapons, no unlocks" is better than the "Stock weapons, no attachments" actually found in the rules, but still not correct - the LMG's used are not stock, since their bipods are banned. Thankfully they clarify this on the rules page by listing the loadouts (without stating the X7/X8 scope are allowed).... ah ****it, I give up here, case in point.

Stock weapons (available at rank 1) with no attachments (bipod is an attachment)

seems incredibly clear to me.

Stock weapons is not a hard concept. I grant that there is some small confusion over bipods on LMG's, aside from that it should be obvious. Was there really any doubt that sniper rifles could have their basic scope? If so, the spastics comment still stands. Largely the comment was directed at whoever it was that had to query whether weapon attachments meant weapon accessories.

Guys, just to confirm - guided shells are in or out?

This thread seems to contradict itself, and while there is mention of guided shells not being allowed early on in the thread there isn't much follow up. There is nothing mention on the rules about them not being allowed, but we did want to clarify. We don't care either way, but we just want to make sure that we are on the same footing as everyone else.

So disregard this post?

Basically you can use guided shells as long as they are not locking onto a target with the help of another player e.g. the third seat of a tank or a SOFLAM

The difference is discernable in the fact that the guided shell will follow a much flatter and lower trajectory if it locks onto an undesignated target (actually ive only noticed that with the javelin, the guided shell might not behave the same way. It would be good if someone wants to test this)
