Title says it all, anyone know how to take it off power save mode? read threads on the net and hasnt helped

i have a Dell running on Vista which are known to enter power save mode and from the looks of it to fix them you need to replace parts. I was wondering if anyone knows any other solutions

what OS?

in win7, control panel, then power options, edit the setting for the selected profile to disable turning off pc or monitor off
