I know for sure it isn't just me thinking this... But this game is getting very stale...
Not only has there not been a decent thread worth reading on these forums for months, but the game itself is becoming very boring to play.

This thread is just to get the opinions of others and see what they think, i personally have 3 main problems with the game in it's current state, this is just my opinion and may not be the same for everyone else.

Firstly and most importantly is the same 5 maps over and over and over again. We really need to start playing something else, i personally do not want to play another whole season of just strike/crash/streets/crossfire/backlot. They have been played to death and are just not fun anymore. Of these 5 maps, 2 of them are absolute trash as well, being Crossfire and Crash... How these maps are still played is beyond me. I would much prefer this upcoming season of CGi to consist of Strike/Streets/Backlot and some customs, even Inferno and Ravens are better than Crash and Crossy, but there are many others out there that are worth playing and will change the game up.

Secondly is kind of an extension from the first point... Because the same maps are played over and over, the strats on them have become so gay its not funny. The play style of proning in horrendous spots and hiding, and the spawn camping has increased immensely by pretty much all teams (Excluding Fray and Us and Mindfreak to an extent). I'm not exactly sure why this has evolved this way on most maps for most teams, but it just has.

Thirdly is the introduction of a team based weapon system to completely change things up. A 2 gun game is one of the main reasons why it's becoming so stale. Including the use of certain guns for Attack and Defence would completely change the play style and strats for all. I know the US used the DAMN mod for a while (Not sure if they still do), where they had the M4, the MP5 and the M16 on Attack with the AK-47, the AK-74u and the G3 on Defence. I have spoken to many people about this and they love the idea, it's just a matter of whether people are willing to try a change and whether the majority of the community will like the idea.

Obviously changing things like this is massive to the game, but i personally feel that something needs to be done and this is the perfect time to do it as no current seasons or tournaments are running. Would be good to see what some of the other CGi players think and yes even you other CGo noobs, but mainly the top tier of players as i feel they will have a better say in this as we have been playing the game from the start.

Damn mod was pretty poorly made. We used it in a small league when it was first released in like nov 08.
Either there has to be a major re balancing of the guns to make them completely unrealistic, or stick to the same weapons. We found the mp5 and the m4 just couldn't compete against the ak/aku

i mentioned this a million times since s1 and there was even a mod out that did it, but people just loved the over powered 74 where they can off hit spray for frags.
not to mention im sure if you seriously looked at some of the other maps like ambush etc and gave them a few weeks of scriming they might become viable for a season (maybe not but worth a shot)

would also like to see a few things added like wallbang damaged turned down a bit more, currently if you cant aim on the target just spray the wall when they go for cover and win.

i have used m4 in scrims and mp5 before and it worked fine. you just cant off hip as well as the 74
not that you even need a new mod, you can use the current one but teams just agree that they use side specific guns.

Its a great idea, id love to see some more custom maps in the rotation as well as some variation on weapons.


There has always been people testing custom maps, but people aren't 100% convinced that they will do well in the league map rotation. I would be happy to start putting custom maps on my server, but its just a question if other team will want to play them to see if they have potential?

If I setup the maps, would meka.tt be keen to scrim them tonight?

If someone could fix the ******ed green boxes that are apparently made out of paper on Inferno and remove the "node sounds" in the background, it would actually become a much better map... Can this be done by just anyone, or does the original creator have to be contacted?

Yeah custom maps need to be played more. I always upload them to any server we have but no teams are willing to play them, not even backlot fix >.<

Its just a matter of people willing to give them a shot... There will be the people who don't know the map and instantly say its shit without giving it the time and seeing how it plays out after more than just one scrim.
