Yes...I know there is 100 threads on build opinions etc, however when you're spending $2000 it is best to make sure you at least ask.

After years of gaming on an iMac (I work for Apple Inc), i've decided to have a dedicated gaming machine for cod4.

Build as follows;
CPU:Intel CORE i5 2500K
Case:Corsair Obsidian 650D Black
Mobo:Asus P8Z68-V PRO-GEN3 MB Socket 1155
CPU Cooler:Corsair Hydro Series H80
OS SSD:Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD
Data HDD:Seagate BARRACUDA 1TB
GPU:Asus GF GTX 580 DirectCU II
PSU:1000W Silverstone 80Plus Gold
Memory:Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Unbuffered
Optical:LG Duallayer DVD Burner

I already have all other peripherals.

This build comes out around $2000 which I don't exactly want to go over.
Opinions ???

Change the CPU cooler to a Corsair Hydro Series H100 it should fit in the case.

Not needed....

Be aware that the H80's fans are ******* loud....

+ a decent Air-cooler is just as good as them anyways.

Why not just get the MSI Twin Frozr II and with that $30 saved get a H100. I wouldn't even call going from a DCUII to a Twin Frozr II a 'downgrade'.

CPU:you dont need it, but wank is wank
Case:nice case, bit overkill, but nice none the less
Mobo:overkill board
CPU Cooler:$30 air cooler does same job
OS SSD:this or a crucial
Data HDD:hold off if you can til prices drop
GPU:nice card, rediculous for cod4. get a 570
PSU:you dont even need 750w let alone 1000
Memory:get c9's and spend the $$ elsewhere, you wont see any difference
Optical:meh all same

1. you dont need to spend 2k
2. if youre set on spending 2k, you could do better

unless he is planning on not spending money on it for a while, wouldn't he be better off getting a 580? and yes i know he stated it is for cod4. but if he is anything like my old man he may want to go all out so he wont have to replace gear in a years time

i need a display port, as my monitor is a samsung s23a750d and doesn't have DVI

i've been playing the same game for about 3 years, i'm not bothered that much about the fact that 20nm GPU's are around the corner.

I won't be putting cash into a computer for a good 2-3 years after this. money isnt much of an issue, so i know i could skimp and spend $1200, but i'd rather just spend 2K.
