My CPU fan speed has been bugging me recently, and has been jumping up very high whilst playing games, recording, sometimes even just opening large programs etc.
I'm trying to limit the speed it goes at by using speedfan (and yes I've tried several other programs) but not one seems to recognise my CPU fan.
Here is a screenie of Speedfan:

I've also tried all the BIOS settings to change fan speeds, updating BIOS and checking the connection to the mobo.

you do realise it speeds up the fan for a reason right?

Yes, but it doesn't go anywhere over 50c, so it shouldn't .
Also my last CPU fan was nowhere near as loud.

hmm, most of the time it's not under extremely heavy loads. Probably around 30-40% usage. (in game)

Also, if I was to get an aftermarket cooler, which would you recommend from this page:
www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=207_23_312

Preferably under $50

Speedfan is horrendous.

Use CPU-z or coretemp.

Don't worry it's in AMDs nature to have extremely loud CPU fans.

My friend has a 965 and it topped 7000rpm once.
