as someone who works in IT
As zammR said CPUid CPU-z is good for monitoring clock speeds as well as seeing general information such as models and cache sizes etc
Hardware monitor (hwmonitor) is good for monitoring temps of your CPU although real temp is probs better these days as hwm has some issues with newer AMD CPUs
also For testing RAM use memtest 86+, for testing CPU under load use Prime95
Take a look through all CPUID's monitoring software and you will find what you are looking for.
