Hey Guys, basically whenever i go on CoD4 [or any game] it will just minimize to the taskbar and it makes a beeping sound, [like the sound when you are backspacing no text in xfire]. the game doesnt crash, i just have to reopen in by clicking the icon in the taskbar and it pops back open where i was when it minimized. theres no program causeing this because after it minimizes theres no program that it goes to. it happens when im on any game aswell ill be typing in google chrome and all of a sudden the program greys out a bit as if its not the program being used. [several times while writing this thread]

Things ive tried> run cod as administartor, run in windowsxp mode, updated directx, updated pb, got the latest motherboard drivers, gpu drivers, ran the game with no other programs up, avast antivirus on silent\gaming mode.

sometimes the game can run fine for a while fine. but usually minimize itself infrequantly usually around every 2 > 5mins. btw its my pc i just built and a fresh install of windows 7 didnt fix it.

Do you have any other programs running, anti virus etc?

avast. although its in silent\gaming mode. and xfire and ts3, but it doesnt alt tab to another program, it just minimizes to the desktop so i can see the xfire and ts3 in windowed mode greyed out because it doesnt direct me to a different program

Might sound dumb.. but do u have skype? If so turn it off

also try

Right click the icon > Properties > Shortcut Tab > RUN: Normal Window
(make sure it isnt minimise)

Try closing all of them to see if they are the cause.

Remove all the GPU drivers and reinstall a fresh new 1

yeah i have tried running no programs and opening cod4 but it still minimizes. and yeah its in normal mode.

did a fresh driver install yesterday, didnt work

Right click on the shortcut you use to open them with, go to compatibility and disable desktop composition. Does that work?

are you spamming/holding shift or other buttons before this happens?

it could be sticky keys activating and minimizing you to desktop, as thats what it does if an application is open.

it also makes a beep noise.

disable stickykeys and see if it continues to do it.

disable UAC.
