Warning Pretty Disgusting

So yeah basically im an operator for an Earthmoving company currently subcontracting for an Origin Energy CSG site situated out there for the next 6 months minimum.

So the picture above is of one of my mates who had a rather horrific encounter with an Auger while working which could have been very easily avoided. Long story short he was working around a grain silo, slipped and well you can see the rest. He was trapped for an hour and a half before being free'd and rushed to hospital. He was very lucky that they saved his leg but his life has been changed forever.

All because of the willingness to get the job done without regard to safety.

I work in heavy maintenance melbourne for qantas, and they were building this big patio type area and they have these metal styrips that you put the beams in and bolt them on the side to hold them in. Anyway, they weren't covered, and my mate and I were walking past there and he pushed me and I tripped and my leg was cut on the corner of one and it cut me right down to the bone. You could see veins, tendons, everything. Was pretty ****ed up, not a drop of blood came out and I did not even feel it.
I was only 1 cm away from hitting a main tendon or something which if I did hit, I would have had to learn how to walk again as I would have been in intensive care for like 6 months.

Well after the shock I was taken to hospital and had to have salt water and 4 long needles into the flesh( absolutely the most pain I have ever been in), and then 17 stitches.
They have since finished the project.(a lot quicker then scheduled) lol

I work in the Deli at woolworths and I was shaving up some meat and my mate was behind me getting something out of the bain marie. As he bent down he knocked me and basically I shaved the bottom of my finger off

I always have my mesh gloves on now.

Oviously the auger started drilling into his leg. I can't confrim exactly what happened as full details on the event were never released. PR shit.

Best guess would be he would have been working around something like this

Also everyone is required to follow OH&S rules, not just the company. Safety is everyones responsibility.
