So, I recently bought astro a40's and connected them with optical cable. I can get 5.1 channel sound. I have the xbox360 chat cable plugged in, and I can hear people talk, but when I try to talk they can't hear me.
Here is some photos.... crappy camera I know.. As you will see I have a hd pvr, I can still get sound when I have it plugged in etc, just the xboxlive chat i need help with.

Are you using the correct cable for chatting (talkback cable)? Mine has a L-shaped end that plugs into the controller. They may have changed that though, I got mine a while ago.

all looks good, what lockdown has stated is the only thing i can see wrong with how u have set it up.

I bought these astros of higgzy who is from cg, and he lost the original talm cable, but he bought this one and said it works fine and he can talk, I have tried to contact him but he hasnt replied, but here is the link.

could be ur mic..
try unplug it and put it in on the other side of the headset

Yeah I have done that, the mic fits in real nice and doesn't move once it is in. I also tried my turtle beach talk cable which fitted but when I talked nothing happened.

is the headset brand new or off ebay?

im guessing its your talkback cable just order one from the astro website they dont cost much and dont take to long to get there.. but thats just a wild guess...

Yeah, if I can't find a solution I will just buy one of the astro website, but higgzy said he had lost the original talkback cable and bought the one i posted earlier, and that it works fine, It isnt a bait, It comes with everything etc and I can hear.

Seach it on Google Willem or youtube someone will have a solution

Of course, why would he lie? Saying the cable works could have been bait, and most likely is your problem.
