Hey guys, last night i was gaming with a few other programs running then suddenly there was a loud pop/bang, my computer then blacked out and shut off, opened up the case and there was a strong smell of electrical burning/smoke, majority of burning smell was coming from the power supply which was too hot to touch.
PC now won't turn on, but lights on mouse still turn on when i switch on the powerpoint.

So basically, what's gone wrong? What can i do to fix it? What could be broken and what could be fine?

CPR - Always perform CPR on something dead.
Don't forget your DR ABC.

Kidding - Youve blown your power supply.

I tried to give it 30 compressions and 2 breaths, but it was too hot to touch

Yeah, that's what i figured happened, any idea if it would have damaged other parts of the PC?

Ah could of fried your monitor, but highly doubtful.

Probably just get a 650-750W power supply.

a lot of PSU's have safety precautions to stop from blowing other components. so you should be safe.
What brand PSU and wattage did you have? if you dont know take a photo of you PSU and list some specs and someone can give a quick recommendation.

EDIT: if it was your 750W corsair that blew that might be a problem, list the specs/talk to the company you got the PSU from and it should be under warranty.

yeah lol, it says 650W but probably peak 650W and continuous 500W so if you were to buy a corsair 650W it should be fine, but if you were to post a list of specs i can give a better recommendation.
