Hey, Just looking to see how many of the community wants to play the smaller format (now) so the community is not split between 2 different formats. Weapon restrictions can be determined after if the majority want a change, the biggest change between different competitions is the team size.

To warrant a change mid season the majority of the community must want the change

i don't understand how in forums and general talking so many people approve of switching to 8v8 and most clans support the decision to switch to 8v8. Yet this is happening...

because this is the best way to guage how the community at large (not necessarly the speaking part) wants to move forward, thats all. Theres always been a vocal minority pushing for various things, and in this instance the vocal (something) wants to effect a change, based on outside experiences.

no thermals in all vehicles
no IRNV
no mortars
no claymores
no soflams
no flashlights
no M320

all are easily monitored.

If you don't want lasing + guided, then (+1 from me)
no 3rd seat lasing in tank
no laser painter on helis
no javelins
no guided shells

Any opinions about this? Noting we are trying to keep the ruleset consistant with the majority of BF3 competitive formats, which means approaching balance from a different perspective and banning items once they become a problem.

Everything allowed besides:

Vehicles unlocks:
3rd seat lasing in tank
laser painter on little bird
all thermals
guided shells


Weapons/Unlocks:
flashlights
IRNV
M320 (Grenade Launcher Only)
Frag Rounds

Reasons for allowing these items:

mortars: you have to dedicate 1 person to change kit, go into main and start slamming inf/tank. Tank can easily dodge shells if he knows there's a mortar around. With inf it might get a bit annoying in tight alleys, but with silencer being allowed (as well as just rezzing/healing each other) they are not very effective

Soflam: Once again 1 person needs to go recon and place it down and the next patch is likely to tweak it so it cannot target air. Even if this didn't happen its not that OP as choppers can see they are getting locked on from a mile away. It also opens up options if a team is getting camped by a chopper. Note there are no large maps so it really is only effective on littlebirds (assuming it doesn't get nerfed)

Javs: Most teams would run 1 jav at most. It opens up new methods of taking down the enemy tank differing away from the standard. Obvious downsides include no infantry spamming and a lock required before firing.

Claymores: Flak perk will prevent claymores from 1hk, so their usefullness is limited. Not to mention you have to go support to use them which is pretty useless considering not many people run out of ammo with ammo perk / picking up kits

TUGS: Agreed that are a bit OP for 4v4, but fine for 8v8. May ban for 4v4 only

Seine Crossing - MP_011 Conquest Small
Damavand Peak - MP_013 Conquest Small
Noshahar Canals - MP_017 Conquest Small
Strike at Karkand - XP1_001 Assault #2
Gulf of Oman - XP1_002 Assault #2
Sharqui Peninsula - XP1_003 Assault #2

Open to opinions but once again want to keep it simple and similar to AW and international rulesets as possible.
