Firstly, if changing the ladder format, don't sugarcoat and dance around it by saying it's a 'new option' and running 8v8/10v10 side by side. The less popular one will just get abandoned. Pro teams will leave, the midrange teams trying to prove themselves will follow; and casual/nub teams will be sitting scratching their heads wondering what happened.
Just change the 10v10 to an 8v8, put an annoucement up on the frontpage, and you save everyone the hassle of registering a new team.
I note there is no announcement or anything on the 10v10 ladder page (http://www.cybergamer.com.au/pc/bf3/ladder/) about the change. Do you want people to know about it or not? Not everyone reads the forums.
Gameplay wise I doubt it will change a lot.
Seems to me like the 5-10% of pro teams that run stuff, are making a heap of hassle for everyone else, just so they can change the format to one of their liking. Whatever, just decide on something so the rest of us can get gaming and get some fun matches under our belts til the next game rolls around.
