Everyone really hates change here, dont they?
I find merit in the Rule set that Redding has posted because of its international compatibility, and the fact that the teams that are at the top can practice one format and not have to change mindsets every single time they scrim. This increases our preparedness, allows us to compare matches from around the world, and LEARN THINGS that can better improve our community's skill level as a whole.
Afaik iM is not the only team that would benefit from a rule set change, and creating the opportunity for other teams who put in the effort to compete on the international stage is a good thing for us in general.
I'm sure the Admins are also trying to look for longevity in their community. By Offering a rule set that everyone (in the world) plays, there's not the issue to drop the game after one season, because the potential for competition outside Australia is still there, so it will continue to garner attention from our internal community as a whole.
I'm trying to understand why everyone is having a rage. 8v8 provides a smaller team, so more teams can be active, it uses more of the devices that are provided from the base game, without crippling the skill that is involved in strategic/tactical planning, and gives the teams near the top (and teams who can work to the top) the ability to play at the international level, and maybe even succeed.
P.S. - there's the potential for at least 4 "top" teams to compete in the Asia cup if it runs again, and Alienware ladder is just as active as the CG one, both which run a different rule set from the one we play on now.
TL: DR learn to accept change, and practice so your team can make the international scene.
