Not to mention 200 on a case, 100 on a cpu cooler, 80 plus gold that he doesn't really need, 120gb SSD instead of a 60gb, wireless card for a gaming computer (lolwut), and ad700's without a sound card.

Your sig is for a hardware website, how can you be giving such bad advice?

Down syndrome probably.

Go with the above build
He doesn't need a 2600K, he doesn't need 16gb of ram, and it's stupid to by a 7970 right now.

Your sig is for a hardware website, how can you be giving such bad advice?

It has nothing to do with what he needs it to do with what he wants.

1. I agree 16 gig overkill,
2. 2500K will do just as good as the 2600K for gaming
3. 7970 why is it stupid because of the cost but he looking to buy something now and not in 3 months time.......

He looking to spend 3k you may as well show him a PC that will cost $3000.

Down syndrome probably.

1. 120GIG SSD is needed due to the size of games.
2. The OP odv wants a wireless card as it stated in the post.
3. 80 plus gold why not if he has the money.
4. 100 CPU Cooler that is one of the best on the market again why not if he has the money
5. The case is always up to the person buying it as he the one who going to be looking at it.

The only thing I agree with you on is a sound card for the headset.

Price for performance and the fact there there is no competing card from nvidia yet.

He's putting on the list because it's the latest and greatest, and because the budget allows it.

Or you could show him that he doesn't need to spend $3000 instead of suggesting shit he doesn't need for the sake of meeting his budget.

Not necessarily, depends on the type of games you're playing.

Looks are irrelevant.

No no no and more no wez.

The reason he posted was for advice, not so we can be his yes men. Everyone here with a clue has told him not to spend that much, to spend wiser, given him tips on what hardware to get, and all you do is go "LOL HERES THE MOST EXPENSIVE SHIT FOR 3K LOL".

Get the **** out.

Ram: Corsair 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (9-9-9-24)
DVD/RW: Sony 24x DVD/RW OEM

Priced around $2550

Monitor Dell UltraSharp U2312HM Priced at $269
http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/sna.aspx?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~topic=ultrasharp_monitor
$269

KB: Leopold around $100
Headphones: Audio Technica: ATH-AD700 around $150

Around $3050 give or take.

ok so.....................

Case: waste of money, nothing more than a 500r/arc mid, and even thats expensive, it is after all just a box to hold stuff
CPU: i5-2500, he doesnt need a K, doesnt need to OC, and he most certainly does not need the i7
CPU Cooler: single most ******ed cooler ever. yes theyre good, do you need it for sandy, NO.
Mother Board: Asus P8Z68-V, the pro adds nothing extra for general gaming use
PSU: nice psu, overpriced, a strider 850 would be a better choice for the money and give him headroom for dual cards etc later if chose to
HDD: Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200rpm SATAIII HDD
SSD: he does not need a gt, theyre ******* red, who cares.
GPU: single dumbest thing you quoted. a 580 for $200 less, and for a marginal loss of performance is a far better choice, and even then a 570 would do
Ram: retared and too much but whatever
DVD/RW: Sony 24x DVD/RW OEM
Network card: ASUS PCE-N15 WLAN PCI-Express N300
OS: Win7 Home 64bit

Monitor: the **** why, he's spending the money, may as well grab a nice 27" 120hz/IPS panel

KB: Dont be a tight arse, filco
Headphones: May as well get AD900x, xonar stx and a headphone amp for the money he's paying

you wonder why nobody gives 2 shits about what you post, because it flat out ******ed. I know full well i build more overkill stuff than this for customers, but i make damn sure they can afford it, do it properly and arent wasting the money on unnecessary crap.

this guy has a 3k budget, which is high, and that can be good too. he does not however, need to spend almost all of it on a ******* box. He should be putting more money into the peripherals and extras that support the system and the user. In reality, a $1,000 box will do the same job

I'd even go so far as to say SLI 570's because they scale real well.
