Hi guys,

I am just concerned and want to see your thoughts on some questions. I just tear my ACL from a stupid situation playing soccer. (Was sprinting pretty quick as I had 2 defenders running at me. I was about to kick the ball and also about to get pressured so i tried to act quick and touched the ball a little too much while running. I thought I would kick it and my leg would reach and I missed the ball and gave too much power on the legs that it clicked on the knee cap and I fell down.) Alright back in the topic. People who had this happened to them, did you go back to playing sports? (possibly same sport) If so, were you confident enough to play the game how you played it before? or you always played safe thinking it ll happen again? (Feeling like nothing happened.) Do you think it would happen again?

Honestly: My thoughts about soccer is i love it so much. Wouldn't exchange it for anything. Both watching and playing. Though what happened scared the shit out of me. Than the pain I went through was bs too and as well as paid 7 grand to repair. I am just seeing if its worth playing again.

Thanks.

(Please go away if your not keen to answer.)

I play at a high lvl myself and know many people which have ****ed their knees... Playing the sport again is all about if youre still committed.. ofcourse u would have to build everything back up to get back to the state you were at before... so it can take time.

My brother snapped 2 and tore the 3rd ligament in his knee, he was 16 years old and playing in under 20s in a high level.. He had the surgery and all went good, but he didnt have to motivation to continue playing again..

Also know a kid my age did something similar to urself.. Hes bak now more confident then ever before.. 18 years old playing first grade and even some offers from A League teams.

It all comes down to your motivation if you want to play again.. and if you think that itll happen again to u, youre dumb and just shouldnt play the sport. Yes you will be hesitant and all at the start but it shouldnt affect you at all.

No matter what anyone says here or anywhere it's not going to help.
Simple answer: Man up and go play again, if not then bitch out and retire.

Isn't the knee meant to be stronger after an operation like this?

Leaning more towards no, depends what type of surgery was done on it is the main part

Been told a normal knee is 100% so after this surgery knee will be at 90%. Never as good as original but not really different on other hand. I also want to play Croatian. Its just i just had the surgery. Like we say "we can't live without computers." is the same situation with me about soccer. "I can't live without playing soccer." I will play at the end but I just wanted your thoughts.

That would be a question for your doctor/surgeon buddy. Not going to find one of them on CG.

I did my ACL late last year... had the surgery 3 weeks ago. The first couple of months are really hard apparently. I've even heard of people still limping pretty hardcore after 5months. Rehab program is pretty intensive and long unfortunately.

I'm not sure if i'd ever go back to netball... I think i'd be a bit nervous to play it again haha.

Yeah two years ago in my netball final I did my ACL. I wasn't sure if I could play again as I was really scared but the next season after rehab I was playing again. I started gymnastics too and now I am in the best condition I have ever been and have an offer from the australian mens netball team.

I understand its scary and all but I played football for 15 years. Its almost impossible for me to quit. I would definitely quit if it happens but I think i am going to give it another shot. For pain after surgery it was 4 weeks for me and i was not using crutches after surgery. Was able to walk very slowly.
