So we moved into a new house, the routers roughly 15-20metres away behind about 3 walls. Since I'm at the back of the house and the study is at the front, now I'm getting 4 bars of reception but the speeds are dropping in and out.

I had two SSID's up my 5ghz @ 300mb/s. and my 2.4 @300mb/s.
2.4 was receiving the best reception/fastest speeds.

I think I'm receiving some interference however from neighbors and what not, I have my 11N Channel set to Auto to find the best channel, however theirs still random drop outs / internet slowing down around 6pmish. I know it's not our Ethernet connection because the front room computer remains the same consistency and doesn't drop.

So tl;dr - Does anyone know of any programs that allow you find the best suited channel with less interference?

Use a cable.

Only decent solution available.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but wireless ******* sucks.

I know, it's bullshit. Got a 20m cat5 that falls short of the router by 2-3m, thanks anyways.

You might be able to get a signal repeater, or booster, but they're a hundred bucks plus and a cable is http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6961 19 bucks, 30 with postage.

Can't run cat6 through house, family won't allow it since it'll be all across the floor, can't drill wall because the walls around my room are all full of cabling, doesn't help that the walls are dead walls too so the signal gets messed up. D:

I'm going to just gonna get a contractor to come out and put a new port in on Wednesday.
Cheers guys.
